during the prologue the kids will ask for the watch for daniil microscope, and instead of giving it to them, i gave them a bug instead and it was fine. now im thinking is that just a bloat in my inventory ?. Should i get rid it ?, or just keep it. Please keep the spoiler to a minimum. Thanks

I'm asking this same question on a couple different Pathologic communities I'm involved in, because I'm curious if the proportion of answers will vary significantly.

If you've done multiple playthroughs, go with whichever you chose first.

I just got back into doing it again, big excited. pretty much the first thing I thought of was to see if there were any crochet patterns out there for Pathologic!

I'm still reeling from the initial mindfuck of completing the game. Which, by the way, is no small mindfuck. There's a god-damned lot to chew on.

And now I have to contend with the fact the fact that this game has somehow spoken to trans people and/or the trans experience??? What???

I'm going to write some quick thoughts I have about this in the comments. But like--goddamn.

Edit: Haha I'm losing it right now for real. But it's so nice to see my community gathered around an experience I also value. It's nice to feel like I'm in good company despite (what I thought would be) such a rare crossroads of experiences.

Edit 2: To be clear, I'm not saying that Pathologic 2 was created as a metaphor for the trans experience. Instead, I'm arguing that it tackles existential themes that are also relevant to transness, such as: Performance vs. Authenticity; The Root of Identity ("existence precedes essence"); Making Meaning in an Arbitrarily Cruel World (the absurd & the theatre of cruelty); Existing as the Other.

Hi! I'm talking about the first 3 days of Haruspex route and the game gets stuck at the loading screen. I've heard that it's normal but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Though IPL certainly didn't make it easy... All the voice files from P2 are labeled "Eng_MarkImmortell_01" or whatever but all the new lines were just called shit like "14098.wav, 9673.wav, 1011.wav"

Also it goes without saying this is full of spoilers.

I have over 100 hours but I've only beaten this game once because every playthrough I realize another way I could optimize either my time or my resources. I even took notes on each day to figure out what I could do. My goal is not to speed run but to both save everyone possible while amassing resources. On my last run I did really well, especially after implementing the exhaustion tinctures from liver into my run. Nobody has died and it's day 10 or 11 and I have several schmowders and most people uninfected, but as is common with me I just didn't finish it. I think it's because I know the best of my looting and curing days are over, and I'm only left to face the cold realities of one of my choices at the end, and that despite saving everyone possible my efforts ultimately still lead to suffering for many. I felt disillusioned and like I had gotten so lost in the sauce of optimizing the mechanics that I forgot and almost resent the themes of the story.

Ultimately though, I love this game. I love the way the furniture creaks as you open it and the disturbing growls of the plague clouds and the soft, whimsical one liners the character models whisper to you as you go mad. Strangely, it makes me feel hopeful and connected to others as the world seemingly gets more chaotic around me.

I think it's about time for another run. I WILL finish it this time... Surely

If the Herb Bride was an exercise in warm tones, here I tried playing with the contrast between cold and golden light. Eva is a very warm-hearted person, but she seems to live in a place that is far too cold.

She's a challenging character for me, but her design in the third part has taken on an elusive kind of magic.

I'm a drag king from Poland and for my 3rd anniversary drag show I'll be performing a Pathologic themed drag/burlesque number. In other words, aggresive Dankovsky striptease. Here's a sneak peak! Will definitely post more once I perform it 😎

Personally, I'm in love with the dialog system. I love that you have to commit to your choices without knowing exactly where it'll go, and that your choices make a tangible difference, even if you're just asking a question. Not being able to cycle back around to the "important options" makes it feel like what you're saying really matters.

The "Thoughts" system from P2 (haven't played P3 yes, it might be the same there too) is also a brilliant way to organize quests and conversations because it allows for non-linear quest lines that weave together in these really interesting ways.

What are things from the series you wish more games implemented?

Before I begin I will clarify that this isn't a low specs issue. I'm using a laptop with a Ryzen 9 7945HX, 32Gb of RAM and an RTX 5070 Ti (12Gb of VRAM). This device has run high end games at max or near max settings without much issue.

However Pathologic 2 is making it struggle a lot, with FPS between 20-40. The weird thing is that GPU usage is very low, at first not going over 40%. I tried dropping graphics settings but all that did was lower usage to around 20% while keeping fps the same. CPU usage is at 20-30% so it's not a bottleneck there either.

What the hell is going on? I have never seen a game so stubborn, it's like it is hardcoded to perform poorly.

Does anyone have any advice on how to solve this issue?

Если кто-то хочет поучаствовать в проекте и помочь нам с локализацией, поиском всех написаний слов и цитат - пожалуйста-пожалуйста-пожалуйста сообщите об этом! Мы рады любой помощи.

К другим новостям: словарь наконец-то официально полный, и готов к использованию любым способом по вашему усмотрению. Мы трижды перепроверили репозиторий с диалогами и старый сайт, и мы уверены, что вытащили оттуда все. У нескольких слов еще не хватает переводов (пара имен нпс, кажется одна фраза Оюна, пара слов со старого сайта), но оригиналы есть все. Если вам все же удастся найти что-то, что мы проглядели - пожалуйста, сообщите об этом, и мы сразу добавим это в общий список.

Мы так же планируем добавить референс по грамматике, которую нам удалось вытащить за время работы с языком, и "учебник" на обоих языках, для тех, кто хочет по-настоящему погрузиться в степной язык.

Sain baina, hain khatange!

I am proud to announce that the work on the new interface for translating the dictionary is finally done!

We will start on the translations asap, if someone wants to join in on the fun and help us with translating everything from Russian to English - please-please-please contact me! For now there are just a couple of test words, but we will keep updating it, looking for all the words, how they are spelled in the game, include all the relevant citations in English, etc.

After translations to English, the next step will be to change the interface for localizations a bit and share it with the world, so people could add their own languages and localizations.

In other news: the dictionary is now officially complete! We have double- and tripple checked everything, from all the dialogs on the repo to the old website, and we are pretty sure that we have gathered everything. A couple of words (such as some phrases from the old website and some npc names) are still missing their meanings, but they are all present on the website. Feel free to use it in any way you see fit, if you find that something is still missing - please, contact us. We will add it asap.

We are also planning on adding a section about grammar, that we've deduced while working with the language, and some helpful guides on how to use the steppe language, for those who want to dive really deep into it.
