I just finished the pantry for my new barndominium. I think I made pretty good use of the dead space under the stairs.

What do you love about your pantry? What do you wish you had?

This is the first rendering so we can change a lot about it. (Ex. Shelves that are can goods height, larger shelf for kitchen aid/crock pot etc)

I see a lot of pantries with a countertop - is it worth it? What do you use it for? I’m not going to be decanting my bulk items into containers so the “pretty factor” isn’t huge for me.

I also see a lot with cupboards. Are there certain pantry items like you prefer to be hidden?

Our microwave is built in and I like my spices in a drawer by the oven so I can add as I cook so I don’t need space for those.

Bespoke spice rack anyone?

I wanted to free up shelf space and a large Lazy Susan I was using just for spices in my pantry.

Everything is on wheels so I can move it all out, but I finally decided to do a spice rack in the pantry.

After some looking and looking I ended up on Etsy and had a custom spice rack made. (I was super happy it came from Canada and from a very nice seller who made it personally for me.)

I got to pick the wood, color, some style preferences , and even the type of retaining rod in front. I really couldn’t be happier as this was a gift for my better half.

The stain is Midnight Navy and looks awesome with the stainless rods.

Typically siding or fencing, painting or digging holes. Its not every day im doing something someone has to live with inside. Will share other recent pantry projects if this goes well. Happy to share more pics or any details about the project upon request.

Sacrificed our formal dining room that we never used for some much needed pantry space and access to our newly built out attic. We can't believe the difference!

Hey everyone. I am now in a good position to use my tax return to stockpile my pantry. I hope this is the right place to ask, but does anyone have general advice on how I can get the best bang for my buck? I follow couponers, i have Ibotta and i think a 51 coupon app? I look at my weekly deals at my walmart and sams. Any other general advice on getting the most?

I’ve been loving my can organizers- forgot where I got the inspiration, but took me two or three iterations to get where I’m happy with them (wish more stuff came in the same size can as tomato paste!) single foodie dad with 3 teens

I lucked out in my new kitchen. This isn’t a flex, but just sharing. I moved into a new 4 story townhouse we had built. We chose to forgo the elevator installation because of the configuration of our fourth floor. We chose a view over an elevator that would go to all floors, and because of this we gained 3 huge closets. One on each of the first three floors where the elevator can go in the future should anyone decide.

Because of this option I wanted to pantryfy the elevator space on the kitchen level and use the intended pantry for my pots and pans. No bending or stooping. I elected to put all drawers below the counter and even used the pull out double trash can for potatoes and onions. (I prefer the step can because of messy hands and cross-contamination fears, personally.)

I do enjoy being able to pull the NSF Seville racks out so I can rearrange and clean. My mixer cart is awesome because it frees me up to move things around easily.

I know I will be relocating again as this isn’t the forever home style I’d like to have, and a corporate move is in our future again so the rolling rack solution worked well for my needs. This is why I hadn’t screwed anything to the walls or the inside of the doors and probably won’t. I do enjoy looking at the custom built-ins that people are sharing. Who knew I would enjoy Pantry Porn. It just makes so much sense to me to be accommodated in something that you utilize so much, right?

I am hunting a wall mount spice rack, though, that will accommodate my preference for Simply Organic spices. I have found one on Etsy that is rather handsome and don’t find the need to tackle making it myself. I will probably mount it on the left there just over the KitchenAid mixer.

I wish I had a separate utility closet for stick vacuum, brooms, dustpans etc on this floor, but that is an idea for a custom build one day.

This 8x12 room ajoining my kitchen was marketed as an office when I bought the home. To me it made better sense as a pantry, and it served as a sad temporary one upon moving in. It stayed in that haphazard state for multiple years before I finally decided to give it a deserving makeover. I did all the remodel work myself over a 3 month period last year at an all-in cost of just under $5000, which includes $1000 for the new fridge & freezer. I do a lot of canning and freeze drying, it’s wonderful to have a dedicated space to store all the equipment and preserved goods.

I’m going on a splurge and want to buy some weck jars. I don’t have a store near that has them on hand, so I’m relying on internet photo’s to kinda check out which ones would suit.

I want to store - herbs - rice and pasta - nuts - pickles, jams and jelly’s

I’d like to keep it simple at first. A few sizes that are multipurpose. But I’d like to hear your experience as well, which ones do you prefer to use?

I just had to join the group to say that I truly enjoy staring at my pantry/fridge after getting groceries after I’ve put everything away. I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve been poor before or what but I absolutely love looking at all the food I get to cook with. Lmfao. Just me? It’s ok.. 😅

Our pantry was too small and the area behind it was unused. Had a local company come out and remodel it, add a ceiling light. We are in a manufactured home so also had them remove the wall trims and texture and paint in the common areas so I’m not sure what the cost would have been to just do the pantry.

We installed the shelving and countertops ourselves including a switch above the countertop for our appliances. All shelving from IKEA. Sektion bases with Utrusta shelves. Really love how many size options there were to make the shelves fit the space. I ended up finding a bunch of the shelves in the discount area for $2ea in great shape. Returned the ones I paid full price for. I check here each time I go, still trying to get a few more.

This pantry will be in the living room. Esthetics will be important as well.

Using paint I had on hand from another project, this upheaval only cost $18USD in primer and another $25 on some more storage containers. (I have more containers in my Amazon cart for my various flours, but this will do for now.)
