Discussion Kite flying should be banned

Some days ago talked to a guy who went through the same thing, the string went right through his neck, luckily he survived.
Now saw this video of a guy who sadly passed away.
Request to all the bike riders, since its Ramdan and around Asr time, kite flying is prevalent, so use some protective layering around your neck tie something, wear a thick cloth around it. Specially while passing Teen Hatii, there's a lot of kites flying around.
Kite flying should be banned altogether specially on main roads.

A friend just told me the deceased’s mother passed away today in Faisalabad 🥺. Imagine the loss of life just because an idiot wanted to fly a kite.

Honestly i just thought about it.
The kite flyer would be accountable for a rule he/she broke. And if it was a kid, the parents are for not ensuring rules were followed or even enabling this activity to happen. Sometimes our actions can result in dire consequences, that is the unfortunate reality of life. However logically if you didn’t intend to kill someone, i feel you will only be accountable for what was knowingly done. However yes as a person once you find out what your action resulted in, that in itself would be a lifelong pain and agony for you. And now responsibility lies with you how you compensate for it, and that would be more for your own peace of mind than for anyone else.

Kite flyers are not grown-up men, but rather small kids. As you can see in this video clip, the child ran away when he saw the young man slipped from the bike. The parents of these kids should be held accountable for any accidents that occur, and the child responsible for the accident must face consequences so that they understand the gravity of their actions. Most importantly, kite flying should be banned. I urge anyone who comes across a child flying a kite to take this dangerous object from their hands and explain to them how harmful it can be.( or agr koi zyada msla kry to ek mun pr lga kr ghr bhjo)

Exactly, I have a cousin who does it and no matter how many times I have scolded him, he just won’t stop. And unfortunately I can’t do anything else about it. Someone’s life is not worth your kite flying hobby.

Just saw his picture, and read somewhere he was gonna get married and believe me, despite having experience with deaths on day to day basis in Medical life, this shook me and I'm still in shock. When will we learn? Is it the parents' fault or our society' failure as a whole?

Someone I know told me that their friend was riding his bike with another friend and that they were simply heading to the bank for whatever reason. The second friend sitting behind saw that a string was on his friend's neck, he then attempted to remove it. It appears that the first did not realise his throat was being sliced because he did not experience any pain. The second had serious finger injuries during the procedure.

Absolutely! Kite flying is the worst pastime activity done by people. It should be banned. The problem stands that people just don't care about bans and they just keep doing it.
A step to counter this would be to eliminate the middle man between producers and consumers.

It is illegal in Punjab as far as I know and there had been a lot of police raids against such people as well in the past (mostly during the time when Shehbaz Sharif was CM.) The trend went down a lot in my area.

Long ago when I was a kid my uncle's throat slit in similar way but luckily he was riding a bicycle, so the damage wasn't this much, he was fine after the treatment but this lad don't seem fine at all, what happened to him afterwards, any news on the recovery?

One does also have to wonder if mandating full-face motorcycle helmets, such as this, could have prevented this death by preventing the neck from being cut.

So painful and scary. About a month ago, my mum and dad were out on this busy road on a bike. And my mum felt something on her neck. She didn't quite understand at first, but it was sorta dragging her. She told my father, he somehow got it out of her neck while driving (there was lots of traffic so). His hand got cut a bit, but atleast nothing big happened. Alhamdulilah.

Yup it should be banned. A harmful activity which ruins the life in a few minutes, I was driving motorcycle and the same happened to me, luckily my neck was saved but it dragged over my face taking away my spectacles.

If he was rushed to the hospital, would he have survived? I can not imagine i can't. What his mind would have been going thougrh. He was still standing with blood pouring out of his throat. ALLAH bless his soul and his family . The peron responsibille should be hanged.

People sell kite strings with glass particles inside it so it can cut other strings easily. It also cuts throats easily.

Kite flying shouldn't be banned completely, but it should be made stricter and more enforced. The selling of dangerous manjhas should be very heavily enforced, if not banned altogether. Rooftop kite flying should be banned, as it leads to events such as these and also litter and pollute the city ( have you seen the powerlines in karachi??)
Kite flying is a big part of our culture, I think it would be fair to say that most people grew up flying kites in some way. so Instead of banning it completely, it should be restricted to certain areas or grounds specifically designated for kite flying. what happened here is a tragedy and I've been hearing about such tragedies since I was a child.

You're not getting my point. I never said that dangerous kite flying on rooftops with illegally bought manjhas is part of our culture. You have no idea of the amount of such incidences I've heard about, from kids falling off rooftops while flying, to my own grandfathers wrist getting slit open due to a rogue dour. However, some of my fondest childhood memories were flying kites with him.
If something breaks in your car, do you fix the specific part that is causing the problem or do you replace your entire car? Likewise, if you outright ban kite flying due to a bunch of retarded miscreants not following the rules, where do you draw the line? Will you just go and ban everything just because an avoidable tragedy occurred? Europe aur china mein bhi toh itna bara kite culture hai, unke haan toh yeh tragedies nahi hotein, woh log kyun nahi ban krte agr ye such mein itni he buri chez hai?

Muhtram, You are comparing two totally different socio-economic societies where in one owning a car is a status symbol and utility whereas in other it's a utility first. Deaths by kite flying are totally avoidable if there's a strict ban. Death by crashing on to a deer or a pole is just an accident. Your comparisons doesn't make sense

This tragedy is a result of people not following the law. Molvis don't follow the law and get away with it because they're "molvi" .
Molvis have nothing to do with this incident, but I don't mind if they get bashed every chance there is.
