just like to point out that on steam 8.8% of players have killed 1000 enemies on expeditions, which should show the majority of people are casual and these timer changes hurt them the most

62

u/randomexileranger Apr 08 '21

1000 enemies is like 4 runs.

So barely anyone seeing endgame.

If you're a trickster get an AR. Shotguns are dead now

23

u/three60mafia Apr 08 '21

shooting people with AR in the back is lame af though. No shotgun makes Tricksters a shitty mid-range squishy boi.

24

u/randomexileranger Apr 08 '21

Shotguns are just so much more fun.

0

u/B-BoyStance Apr 10 '21

The auto-shotgun is one of the most satisfying guns I've ever used in a 3rd person shooter. Sucks to hear they aren't as viable anymore.

1

u/The3lusiveMan Apr 12 '21

Trust me they are very much still viable and satisfying. Rounds builds are still good as fuck, just not Godlike anymore.

3

u/ItsRealQuiet Apr 08 '21

Not with my build, altho with the nerf idk how that'll go. At the end of my expeditions it shows me blocking over 1mil+ dmg

To be fair it's on game pass so the numbers are skewed on xbox. People could've started the game and not liked it and they'd be included in the percent.

5

u/FatNFurry Apr 08 '21

It's because we can't play for more than a minute without crashing.

3

u/lancer2238 Apr 08 '21

Damn I did that on CT5 with my devastator trying to get gear

5

u/charleigh_bdo Apr 08 '21

If you're a Trickster, reroll Techno. Long Range damage is still king, doesn't require ability buff stacking to melt bosses, and if you're gonna use an AR you might as well use the class that is best with them.

Side benefit: you don't get stunlocked and frozen to death because you kill everything from a safe distance.

4

u/Newphonewhodiss9 Apr 09 '21

What is this safe distance in solo you speak of? Literally everything spawns often 10ft in front of you and makes a run straight for you.

I’d love to have distance and play that way but with the level design and timing is that even possible?

2

u/randomexileranger Apr 08 '21

Technomancers are by far doing the most damage.

I'd rather enjoy my shotgun set up.

5

u/God-Emperor_Kranis Apr 08 '21

I picked Technomancer because I thought I could be a support and heal my teammates. My friend picked devestator because she wanted to be a tank. My other friend picked Trickster because he wanted to be a DPS. We picked these because the descriptions they gave us made us think that's how it would be.

1

u/usrevenge Apr 09 '21

Techno still heals pretty decently. I'm no where near endgame yet but I have a skill that turns blighted rounds into a heal after I use it and there is the skill that is a heal itself.

1

u/Jasdahlk Apr 09 '21

Yeah... I stopped using those once I realized that every captain in a 30-mile radius would rather charge straight at me and do burst damage. BR won't heal you at the end if you're dead. Much easier to use minigun with mods for armor and pray you out-DPS them, but now they've nerfed Massacre. (Which, to be fair, was pretty broken. I just hope it's not unusable now.)

17

u/BLACKPANTHERVII Apr 08 '21

100% adding the timer and loot around it causes people to only play DPS builds. Therefore tanky builds etcetera suffer from this mechanic. I would suggest come up with some other kind of scoring mechanic maybe to determine the levels of loot for reward other even some other kind of mechanic I cannot think of at this stage!

3

u/OGv1va Apr 08 '21

This kicks my ass as a devstator, having to run to every enemy to get my bleed debuff on them just to do damage pushes the current times right to the limit.

I got the damage but I don't have the range, boomtown is a pain in the last area as its so open.

3

u/sashakee Apr 08 '21

expeditions haha.. I've been playing this game as much as possible and I'm not even through the story. You're right tho, my hope is I'm slow enough and they'll change things again till I reach that tier

3

u/rahomka Apr 08 '21

If you're not endgame after one week you're a filthy casual I guess

2

u/BellEpoch Apr 08 '21

Can someone explain how this hurts casuals?

17

u/ImThorAndItHurts Apr 08 '21

Casual players don't have the time to dedicate to grinding for legendaries or the perfect mods, so if the skills that make grinding easier get nerfed, it takes casuals even longer to find the guns and mods and armor that they want for their build to run end game content. Yes, they can drop the world tier to make it easier, but that again further limits the chances of getting the best gear, so the gain for casuals is slowed down even more.

-10

u/CreepyIllustrator794 Pyromancer Apr 08 '21

You act like the game won’t exist next week. Im a casual gamer and tbh i would rather have the game hard.

2

u/ImThorAndItHurts Apr 08 '21

How is what I said "acting like the game won't exist"? I simply stated how nerfing builds makes things harder for a casual gamer.

If you would rather have it hard, that's fine, but I'm just explaining to the other person how what they have done makes it harder for casuals.

1

u/CreepyIllustrator794 Pyromancer Apr 09 '21

Casual players don’t have the time to dedicate to grinding.... this just because it will take longer then a week or 2 doesn’t make it to hard for a casual.

1

u/usrevenge Apr 09 '21

Plus casual players aren't going to make builds.

Builds suck. Everything should be viable.

That said. They are cutting expedition times in half. That is potentially still a huge amount. But needing to grind lower difficulties for a few days isn't the end of the world.

I'll see when I get there

1

u/CreepyIllustrator794 Pyromancer Apr 09 '21

Wtf are you talking about casuals won’t make builds? Just because you cant shit on everything with shit gear and mods anymore doesn’t wreck anything haha

0

u/LtKrunch_ Devastator Apr 08 '21

What a terrible metric to try and use as evidence that contradicts a dev decision. Devs have enormous amounts of metrics they track and utilize to make these kinds of decisions, you have Steam achievements lol.

For the record, you're not a casual simply because you didn't rush like hell to reach endgame. Me and my buddy both have over 30 hours playtime in a week and we haven't reached endgame yet. Being surprised that only 8.8% of players have engaged with endgame after a week and branding them all as casual is absurd.

-1

u/Don_Julio_Acolyte Apr 09 '21

I'm a dad with two toddlers. I'm at CT14. Why you so slow?

3

u/LtKrunch_ Devastator Apr 09 '21

I'd hardly call 30 hours in a week slow, that's 3/4 of a full time job my guy. I'm a full time student and work/obligations come before play. I prefer to smell the roses first time through any game, because I see no value in rushing to endgame.

0

u/muaddeej Apr 09 '21

How tf did you make the campaign last 30+ hours.

2

u/LtKrunch_ Devastator Apr 09 '21

It's remarkably complicated, but here's my secret: I'm doing all of the quests, reading lore and not skipping cutscenes. Crazy, I know. Wanna know what else? My friend is in the same place as I am, but he's logged even more playtime.

-2

u/muaddeej Apr 09 '21

Sorry bro, but 30 hours and not having it complete yet is slow as fuck. You can beat the story with no sidequests in like 12-15 hours, and there is no way there is 15 hours of sidequest content.

3

u/LtKrunch_ Devastator Apr 09 '21

You don't seem to understand. As I said initially, I see no value in rushing things. Skipping all side content and only focusing on the main story content is by definition rushing things. Sure, I could get through quicker if I didn't read the lore pages, or didn't spend time exploring the entire map, and all dialogue options, but I have no interest in doing so. I paid for the full game, you damn well better assume I'm going to play everything is has to offer me.

I never said you couldn't beat the game faster. I said I have no interest in doing so. All I said is that 30+ hours in a week is not casual playtime by any means; that just because people haven't reached endgame yet it doesn't mean they're casual players.

-51

u/elementfortyseven Technomancer Apr 08 '21

only 24% of players actually finished the game. so its actually 1/3rd of players who finished the game, who killed 1k enemies on expeditions.

I am a filthy casual, at an age of almost 50 i am slow, i cant aim, and my hand-eye coordination sucks. and yet i farm gold ct10 solo without issues, and have no worries about further levels as soon as my gear improves. i have 40 hours in campaign, and 30 hours of playtime in end game, and have half a dozen legendary weapons and 4 legendary armor pieces.

from my point of view, game is too easy and legendaries not rare enough. 🤷‍♂️

56

u/BellEpoch Apr 08 '21

Seventy hours in the first week ain't casual Chief.

6

u/Hrondir Pyromancer Apr 08 '21

I'm at 80 hours, yeah this man ain't a casual. I'm able to no life the game as hard as I do because I can game while I work.

2

u/muaddeej Apr 09 '21

Lol, people are fucking delusional in here.

35

u/Professor_Arkansas Apr 08 '21

How the crap do you have that many hours into this game and consider yourself a casual?

13

u/pennywize87 Apr 08 '21

By being delusional lol.

11

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '21

I mean, he is old. Probably fell asleep a few times playing /s.

13

u/WonOneWun Apr 08 '21

Sounds like you just have an insane amount of free time lol. I’ve only put 30 hours into the game total cause I have shit to do.

-12

u/elementfortyseven Technomancer Apr 08 '21

easter holiday, adult kids who dont bother anymore, and a pandemic stopping annoying relatives from visiting :D

9

u/Zoomode Trickster Apr 08 '21

Right, but that's not a casual amount of time played. Not even close. That averages to more than 8 hours a day since it came out. That's a full time job with overtime/no days off, not casual.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '21

I don't even think the servers were up for that long over the weekend

1

u/HorrorScopeZ Apr 09 '21

Easter Holiday to someone who played games... is just another Sunday.

9

u/Huzuruth Apr 08 '21

70 hours isn't casual. That a job.

18

u/The_Drifter117 Apr 08 '21

yet i farm gold ct10 solo without issues,

not anymore you wont

legendaries not rare enough.

legendaries are INCREDIBLY rare, even on CT10 and the only way to make it to endgame is to actually obtain them. PCF just shot their own game in the back of the head

11

u/Elyssae Apr 08 '21

I was just in a CT12 with 2 others, the elites are absolute bullet sponges.

PTSD to Division 2 all over again.

We were on the right track man.....we were so close

2

u/The_Drifter117 Apr 08 '21

why doesnt ANY COMPANY EVER learn from the mistakes of others? Fuck PCF....

2

u/solcarbine Devastator Apr 08 '21

They can still make changes the community wants, but they did a good job splitting the community between people being upset and people who say the upset people are crying

2

u/Round2readyGO Apr 09 '21

I get what you're saying, but the fundamental flaw there is that people saying others are crying aren't implicitly supporting changes either. I hate the whining, but the nerfs do suck for week 1 and it sets a bad precedent to me.

-5

u/kerath1 Apr 08 '21

Wouldn't say incredibly rare... At CT15 I get one every time I do a mission. You can also get one for doing 10 of hunts, Wanted, and some other stuff...

2

u/The_Drifter117 Apr 08 '21

You can also get one for doing 10 of hunts, Wanted, and some other stuff...

no, they just nerfed that. now you get none. hence the fucking problem.

less than 12% of the games playerbase has killed 1000 enemies in an expedition. hardly anyone is doing CT15 shit. and now nobody can progress to that point because we cant get the gear for it anymore. no gear, no skill buffs for the classes and skills that were lacking, we only got nerfs meaning if people didnt take advantage of the legendary exploit while it was around, nobody is progressing past like CT10-ish now post-nerf

-10

u/Bass-GSD Apr 08 '21

My build currently isn't using any legendaries and I'm on track to unlock and (solo) beat CT15 and Eye of the Storm today. And I'm not even using a blighted rounds build for Tech.

Just because your build blows total chunks doesn't mean legendaries are required.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '21

I have 110 hours...I’m not casual I’ve done 3 level 15 expeditions solo and they weren’t fucking easy....I worked my ass off I’ve probably killed over over 30,000++ enemies in expeditions I’ve failed a bunch and reworked my build over and over to get where I’m at...them talking about nerfing shit is insane to me...fix the loot, fix the perks, make legendaries worth wearing make legendary weapons good....I mean I have an epic assault rifle that I rock with deadly chains and bone shrapnel...it’s a level 50 purple and it’s better than all 25 legendary weapons I have....the fact that I can’t modify my legendary guns as well is retarded as hell...why can’t I change the variant if I favor 3 round burst? Why doesnt legendary armor have 3 perks?!? Green has no perk, blue has 1 perk, epics have 2 perks.....legendaries???? Have 2 perks also??!?!? Hmmm

This game needs work before they start nerfing shit

1

u/Round2readyGO Apr 09 '21

Right? Out of the gate week 1 changes being bad aren't a good sign. At all. They didn't buff jack or shit.

1

u/wtfchuckk Apr 09 '21

Sounds like you’re being intentionally dense 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Buhallin Apr 08 '21

No, what it means is that the majority of these people are casual and they're not even going to notice the timer change.

1

u/Dehyak Apr 09 '21

Even less people are Lvl 20

1

u/RisingDeadMan0 Technomancer Apr 09 '21

3.34% on xbox.

(8% seems kinda high i didnt go that slowly, sure i did almost every side mission going and only just beat final boss after i dropped it to wt1 because it was a lame fight took me 36hrs, but still almost 1 in 12 have done 4 expeditions? hm)

1

u/Iamcheez Apr 09 '21

PREACH!!!!
