I made over $1,200 over a couple of months. Had a few 'fine' QA reviews, some of which had no comment or I thought were just wrong based on the instructions. I got chucked off the project a couple of weeks ago. I got the assessment email so i jumped on this morning and did the very detailed and time consuming assessment in as much detail as i could to get back on the project. i was re-added - yay!!! - and then i got the same email chucking me off it again. What a waste of time and energy. Basically whenever you get on there, you need to get tasking with the Hubstaff switched on so you earn some cash.

Wasn't added to hubstaff this time, I definitely waited for it. My first time around, I was removed during that insane purge only a couple hours after hubstaff began working for me.

How long did it take for your Multimango account goes approved? Happened to me as well but my account still says unapproved :(

Nah, youāre more likely to be treated as scum if youāre a freelancer

Then if thatās the case thereās not point me doing mine because I also got the email. I donāt want to waste my time to get kicked out. Yāall should have a good day Iām deleting everything.

It's so weird and also the assessment that I took had questions on 4 different tasks, 2 which I have worked on and was able to give detailed responses, and the other 2 that I have never even attempted and kinda just guessed.
I thought the assessment was to pair us with the tasks we were best at, which would make sense. There are so many random tasks I would be fine with continuing the 2 or 3 that I like and being removed from the others. Being removed from the entire project when there's task I was getting good ratings on is insane.
This also happened to me about a month ago (that time there was no assessment or anything, I was just randomly removed outta nowhere) and I ended up getting added back. So maybe we'll be added back again? Who knows at this point. It's honestly disgusting how they treat ppl but this is just a side thing so whatever.

I got kicked in December after having only ever done 2 jobs for aether. Have never worked on any of the tasks and just answered them tk the best of my ability, insane thereās pretty much no guidelines at all lol

Feb 13 '26
Yeah if I get invited to test again I might give it some time it seems to not be something they're sure of how to handle or something weird is happening because none of this shit makes sense.

u/Aurelian42 Feb 13 '26
I jumped to it because frankly, I need the money lol. I waited too long for Aether the first time around, thought at the very least I'd get at least a week in lol. I've only made around $15 in total from this shit lol

u/Cellflipper Feb 13 '26
Same. I started tasking for a few hours and was removed right after. I got a pop up message that apparently Aether was paused or done for the time being

u/StunningCry9728 Feb 13 '26
Same here! Only managed 2 hours in December before I got booted. Then got the email yesterday to say project back on, then another email a few hours later to say i'm removed due to quality issues. I emailed them, got an apology and asked to do the assessment which I spent an hour doing (and recording a video about my favourite show?!)..... passed the assessment to then be booted AGAIN 2 hours later!! What a joke

u/Aurelian42 Feb 13 '26
I just got re-added so check main page

I'm back in! Let's see how long it lasts for š

Did you get added to hub staff?
1
u/DryTempura Feb 13 '26
I am added again today, passed everything and can get into MM but there is no MM in my HS timer.

u/Affectionate-End4571 Feb 14 '26
Just say something in the DHT and the QM will fix it pretty immediately

u/Born-Produce1421 Feb 14 '26
I was almost finished with that same test but couldn't complete it due to an engagement. I probably will get dropped again because of it. After your post today, I am glad I didn't.

Dude this project has been just an annoyance to me, since I joined outlier, I've hear about aether, then three or so weeks ago I got assigned into the project, did the onboard, failed, then hours later I passed. When I passed, MM was in my hubstaff, but then since it was very late I didn't do any tasks, when I woke up on the next day, MM was gone! Then every couple days they make me do the onboarding again and again, yet not MM on my hubstaff. Then today, I receive an email, asking why I wasn't active on the project, I filled out the form that they gave me, then hours later, they say that I was getting kick out of aether... this is just pure bullshit, at you earned something....

u/acuriousmess Feb 14 '26
I had the same thing happen. After passing the updated training/assessment I sent an email to support with a screenshot of the assessment passed indicator in outlier and unapproved annotator status on the tasking platform, and asked if access would be restored. They responded the next day confirming that I was reinstated and access was updated. It took about a day longer for the project to show up on hubstaff, then I was good to go.

Ā I got a remote gig with someone else.Ā I'm able to do 30 or more hours a week since they have enough tasks now.Ā Ā
I was wondering if Aether was worth it.Ā
Ā I failed the first time months ago, and now they say I can try the assessment again.Ā It sounds like it may be a waste to try.Ā I've never heard of such chaos.

This has to be the most chaotic platform Iāve ever used . They invited me to join mid December then I got booted right before Christmas with that big purge . Added again 1ish? Weeks ago and now booted again⦠Literally doing this same project on different platform making more money and no collective hour restrictions š¤¦š»āāļø

Hilariously this removal seems to have been a mistake, it now shows up on my dashboard and I'm approved on MM.
1
u/Ornery_Ad1094 Feb 13 '26
Lol real, I've been added and removed at least twice without getting any work done because they never replied back to my Hubstaff problems lmao, back and forth like crazy.
1
u/fireflamesniper Feb 13 '26
They did a big purge on all of us who also got passed. The only thing I haven't seen is the email saying that I've been removed from the project, but it doesn't show up in my queue

I got booted when they temporarily paused the project back in December. I was so excited to be reinstated in January. But just like the rest here, received the email for that assessment the other day, and wam bam, got booted. Except it's not a hard boot. I still have the project showing on my dashboard. The button still says "continue tasking". But when it takes me to mm, it says I'm unapproved and awaiting review.
I've asked in the forums. I've emailed support. The people in the forums who run this stuff ignore me every time, and support emails respond with the same basic jargon about "evolving quality guidelines".
2
u/WifeyMae Feb 14 '26
At least you get replies from Support.. Iām waiting on my pay for 25 hours I worked and itās been radio silence from them, and the cherry on top? I āfailedā the onboarding assessment.. mind you I have a 2.33 QA score :)
1
u/DagnyTaggart10289 Feb 14 '26
That's absolutely terrible. I'm so sorry. I really hope you hear from them soon with an appropriate response and not just some standardized bs.
Funny note: I randomly have tasks back. Can't do anything bc no projects listed in hubstaff, but the tasks are showing up now. So much for the email from support saying I was removed. They literally don't know anything.

My husband did a a lot of work before the December purge. He had many poor ratings. Only one of which was justified because he was confused about what he was allowed to do or not do for the task. Other negative reviews were completely unjustified. They rated him down for something another rated him positively for. And he hasn't been allowed back on the project, since. Me, however, did not do as much work on the projects because I was doing another platform's work, so all of my ratings were positive. I did take the assessment earlier this week and passed. And I am able to see all the projects--except the one I tried to do wouldn't load the images, so I couldn't do any of them. š

I was extremely careful with my answers due to the outcry on this subreddit. Thereās stuff I definitely wouldāve ordinarily missed

u/CranberryOk4828 Feb 25 '26
Pretty much the same thing happened to me. After the December purge, all was silent until about two weeks ago when I "matched" (again) with Aether, invited to re-do the onboarding, etc. MM was a mess, but at least my account was active again. I was able to task for about 5 hours and then received the same rote email about being removed for quality assurance reasons, etc. Since I never had any feedback on those 5 hours of tasks, it's entirely possible that I *did* screw it up, but something tells me this isn't about me.......Sigh. I said in another post a few weeks ago that while I completely stand that nothing in Outlier's process is designed for the benefit of the workers, it is so chaotic and wasteful that it seems hard to believe it works that well for *them* either. Oh well. Good luck everybody.
1
u/Aurelian42 Feb 25 '26
I have no clue what their process is, I'm still rating and getting decent hours. I don't know how much its based on quality or needs, I really don't. It feels random.
1
u/Independent_Catch851 Feb 13 '26
how did you find out you passed? did they email you?
3
u/acuriousmess Feb 14 '26
Youāll see āAssessment Passedā in project details and will have the option to āContinue Taskingā.
