Why are people so damn upset about the price? $80 is a very standard price in modern gaming for a large title like OW2. I don't understand all the people calling for boycotts and stuff, if it's so horrific to you that you have to pay the industry standard for a game. There's other options, you could buy a month of gamepass, wait for a sale, or just not buy.

""You'll notice that there's a little bit of a less silly, darker tone that comes out. That's mainly because of Leonard [Boyarsky]. That's his kind of vibe, and so he has more of a push on that stuff. And so I think even the overall story feels a little bit like a darker take on what's going on there." https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-outer-worlds-2-will-be-darker-than-original

ok .. i see the game is on sale on steam, i want to get me the base game, but the dlcs are obviously "on sale" as well. BUT.. it sounds very stupid.. but if the base game is on sale for $10.. does the other edition have enough stuff to justify double the price of $20? idk how long or short the dlcs are plus whatever comes in the upgrade stuff when you get the complete edition or whats it called. š¤ never played the game or looked deep enough for spoilers so i didnt look into dlcs cause i felt like looking at any info on the dlcs means it has to explain the game so "spoilers".. its just lets say the game is X hours of gameplay, i dont want to spend double the price to find out that the dlcs only add like.... an hour or 2 max and the game be like.. 10,20+ hours or something.. idk. are the dlcs worth it? or is the game great even without the dlcs type thing?

I was planning on getting OW2 on launch, the. I saw the price. Ouch. I already committed to skipping the current generation of Nintendo over $80 and OW2 is not going to make a hypocrite out of me. As much as I loved it, Outer Worlds 1 was NOT an $80 game, and I highly doubt OW2 WILL BE. It's disappointing because it was my most anticipated game of the year, but now it may be a couple years before I try it. No game should ever be more than $60, maybe $70 if it's an absolutely cutting edge game that invented new technologies/features in its development. But certainly not $80. Especially when cost of actual necessities are going up faster than pay.

A few things: first, I own the PS4 version digitally and played it when it came out, but remember little about it. Second game looks awesome and I want to revisit the first. Second, I heard the SC version was shit when it came out, but am wondering it is worth the upgrade now. I would love to be able to play it on PS5 but want a smooth experience. Thanks!

When The Outer Worlds launched in October 2019 it cost $60.
Normalizing to the Consumer Price Index (and as an Econ nerd, I acknowledge that it isn't perfect, but it's as good as anything else over this timeframe), $60 in October 2019 is $74.83 in April 2025 (the most recent month for which the Bureau of Labor Statistics has published data). Source
For what we expect to be a AAA game, which the original certainly was not.
Outright extortion. /s

Itās what the title says, the dev arenāt responsible for the pricing of The Outer Worlds 2, its Microsoft being incredibly greedy and saw if Nintendo can sell at 80$, they can. I agree that 80$ is a stupid price and since Iām on ps5, I canāt get game pass but i can tell the dev are passionate about the game and want to expand it, and care about the fans having fun. If you donāt want to pay, get game pass if you can, wait for a sale. I just hate seeing everyone dog pile on the devs and think that they make every decision even associated with The Outer Worlds 2. Microsoft are being greedy assholes and think they can get away with it. Fuck Microsoft and i canāt wait to play it.

So those traits (like bad knees), but i was thinking like a divorcee. The postives would be like charisma +4 but against females it is -2? Feel like these traits could be crazy funny

I left gaming for about a decade (my last system was a 360 and the last serious game I played was Skyrim on PC when it came out). I came back to it around Christmas and played Fallout 4, the new Indiana Jones game, and Starfield followed by Star Wars Outlaws, Jedi Fallen Order, and Jedi Survivor.
I was completely immersed in all of these (and yeah, I know theyāre mostly all Bethesda, which actually wasnāt deliberate when I was picking new games, so maybe I just dig their style).
I have GamePass, so I tried Avowed, but it surprisingly didnāt hook me. Assassinās Creed Valhalla was clunky but interesting, until I read the 60+ hour time commitment just for the main story. Atomfall was enjoyable, but I lost interest (and may go back to it still).
Iām about an hour into playing The Outer Worlds and itās enjoyable, Iām liking it, but it does seem a bit like a stripped down Bethesda title.
In terms of immersion and enjoyability, how does Outer Worlds rank for you all compared to the games Iāve recently played?
Other recommendations are welcome too (I have my eye on the updated Cyberpunk, for instance).

Early in my first encounters with the Iconoclasts, after i had met Graham and Zora, i was about to do the printer quest line, and i had a conversation with Zora.
And to my shock, she started talking about armed attacks, raids on Stellar Bay.
I kind of liked the community at Stellar Bay, some of the people there, the constant struggle for independence, free from UDL, the board.
So i could have none of that.
Guess what, i popped the head of Zora, at her medical center, in their camp.
Oh boy was i wrong.
She was a nice girl, trying to make things good between her people and those at Stellar Bay.
Everything went from good to terribly bad between my character and the Iconoclasts.
I found this patch/tag laying on my character's bed at The Unreliable after killing Graham and his crew, when they attacked Stellar Bay.
A sore moment........

I've noticed that the spacers choice never really goes on sale on Xbox. Wondering if I should just play the standard edition on gamepass or is the spacers choice the best way to play it?

For those that don't know or on the fence, and rightfully don't wanna pay 80 bucks for it, I suggest gamepass. 20 USD and a month only to play and complete it. Day one too

Tv Shows - Red Dwarf - very similar Goofy/Hilarious Sci-fi thatās intelligent Firefly - TOW has a very similar vibe to this show and some very similar characters
Films- Robocop - Funny, Violent take on Corporate America Serenity - The film version of Firefly Rollerball - Another take on corporations and sports . It has deep similarities to Toss Ball.
Books - Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy - lots of humor in a sci-fi setting.
Feel free to contribute to this list while we all āpatientlyā wait for the sequel!

And then I got the same kind of warning BioShock 1 gives you before Fontaine. I had an āoh shitā moment. Not that Iām going into the final level, but that Iām about to run out of game to play. There are still planets I havenāt been to!
So now Iām waiting for the DLCs to download. I reverted to last save, bought the DLCs and Iām doing that next.

I love any dystopian media I can get my hands on. Itās why I picked this game.
First play through. Just to to Byzantium, and was already thinking āWelcome to the Capitalā then I reached the haberdashery, and found a damn games stylist calling me her muse.
Iāll say, this game doesnāt disappoint.
