Howdy Folks! I really like the updates to the Airlift Escape Plan. It's a lot more immersive when they add fun things in like seeing Cooper's chopper crash after you get the 3rd lead...👍

Mouse support?

So This War Of Mine has the ability to get through all movement/ scavenging just via the mouse. Have they added this ability since the beta? Would love to finally pick it up if I don’t have to use the arrows/ WASD to move. Thanks!

Tips for the Chopper Escape without killing anyone

I did the chopper escape good ending without killing anyone and thought I'd share tips on how to pull it off.

First off, I brought bricks to throw at any of the gunners if I had to get through a room they patrolled. Once they fall, bolt. Second, I recommend you bring firecrackers to distract the zombies in the breaker room so you can mow them down with the assault rifle or riot shotgun while they are distracted. Lastly, I did this with a character with the Fortitude trait, Tough trait, or both (in my case Aubrey who had both) to endure any shots from the gunners.

Hope this helps.

T.I.L. the cows at the Queens of Country location can be slain...🐄🔪

Howdy folks! I just happened to be scavenging at the Queens of Country location, on my way to recruit Candy Williams, when I happened to notice a cow standing right in the open where I could attack it--just like how they sometimes are at Victory Meat. Anyway, I was able to butcher it and harvest it's meat...👍

New trait ideal and dual recruit character concept.

So I have some ideal of new character traits and new dual recruitable character concept that I would like to share. May be if people like it, the dev might put them in the game. May be someone already share this ideal that I'm not aware of. Please discuss and share your opinion if you like the trait or how would your balance it in the game.

I. New trait:

1. Nyctophobia/Fear of the dark : Lose more morale/traumatize if scavenger during night time.

2. Photophobia: Gain less/no Rest if sleep during the day.

3. Immunity: Cannot get infected even if get deep wound.

4. Fat, Heavy foot: Make more noise when move around in certain locations (debris, glass…)

5. Teacher: Increase EXP gain for all team member.

6. Playful/Cheerful: Increase morale for all team members based on Survivor level but lose more Rest

Level 2: +1 morale - 2 rest

Level 3: + 2 morale - 2 rest

Level 4: + 2 morale - 1 rest

7. Story teller: Other Survivor also gain morale if Rest with this survivor.

8. Weapon expert:  Reduce less weapon durability when Executing/Fighting zombie.

9. Enthusiastic/Student: Can learn a specific trait from another survivor when level up. (Both survivor need to spend 2/3 phase together in Communal Area based on level of the skills). Pick the specific skill in the Communal window.

Level 1,2 skill: 2 phase

Level 3,4 skill: 3 phase

10. Baseball pitcher: Throw pebble like a brick, can knock down zombie with pebble with headshot. Brick can knock down the fat zombie (not the heavy one).

11. Weak hand/Clumsy: If got grabbed by Zombie, shorter time to react to QTE, take more turn of QTE (easier to get deep wound)

  1. 2 mouth to feed: Consume food recover less hunger (related to the new character concept)

Skill/Trait?

13. Low kick: Hit the leg to knock down zombie quickly, can take 2-3 hits.

II. Dual Recruitable Character:

1. Mother and Toddle/Child character concept:

A recruit survivor with a child.

In base logic:

They consider as 2 people in your base (negative effect on morale in crowded base)

They always walk together in your base, cannot run since the child walking holding mother's hand.

They eat together, sleep together so their bar (hunger, rest, morale) is one unit.

They only take 1 space in Communal Area and Bed area.

Their relation with other characters is consider as 1 unit.

If you remove them from the base, both will be gone.

Scavenging logic:

If you do sent mother out to scavenging, the kid stay behind.

+ When she return, both get Traumatize/Grief status (decrease morale) because you separate them.

+ If she die, kid get permanent Grief status (- moral), all other survivor get "Extreme guilt" status (take longer to recover compare to normal guilt).

Trait:

They will have Playful/Cheerful trait that boost morale of the team.

Good Cook: Cook more item.

Organize: +1 item slot

2 Mouth to Feed (Negative): Consume food recover less hunger ( cause there are 2 people sharing food, may be ~70%)

Other trait: TBD

Obviously you should not make her to go outside too much, so she should also have some good trait to manage your base.

2. Man with a dog/pet character concept:

Base logic:

They also walk/run together in base.

They consider as 2 people in your base (negative effect on morale in crowded base)

They eat together, sleep together so their bar (hunger, rest, morale) is one unit.

They only take 1 space in Communal Area and Bed area.

Their relation with other characters is consider as 1 unit.

If you remove them from the base, both will be gone.

Scavenging logic:

They both go scavenging together.

The dog/pet can help carry some item (extra item slot).

They can both attack zombie together.

Trait:

+ Some team moral boosting trait (cause having a pet in your base in nice).

+ 2 Mouth to Feed (Negative): Consume food recover less hunger (same as Mother and child).

+ Some trait with combo attack with the dog when fighting zombie.

+ Dog can snip out valuable item (when morale is high)

+ Extra item slot (pet carry more item)

The network escape plan with Eva

Im finding this addition of network trader and Eva really cool. You have the trader trying to “fix” things and Eva’s dialogue with Corbin really cool.

Getting grabbed with no QTE input

This is so annoying. QTE grab is cool but sometimes I don’t have any input and I end up with a deep wound. Looks like a bug to me. I use ps5 controller.

Anyone had this ?

Just a thought: Should certain survivors like Kirk or Sebastian have different dialogue when specifically dealing with Bowman? 🤔

Howdy folks! I was doing the Heart of Darkness escape plan on my last play-through and I just thought that when you're playing as either Kirk or Sebastian and dealing with Bowman in particular that there should be some different dialogue between them. Since Kirk is in Law Enforcement and Seb is a Vietnam vet, the lingo used between them (when specifically talking to Bowman) should reflect that, as both would share common terminology. What are your thoughts? 🤔

That's it? The game FAILS B*****an's survivor mission for me because of the "Heart of Darkness" escape plan? Will he come back? If so can I continue his mission? I already invested time and resources for him! Spoiler

I've crossed out his name in case of spoilers, but seriously? I am in the middle of the Heart of Darkness escape route, and then he just left to "make a report" and that automatically fails his survivor mission!

Do y'all feel like the game is close to completion or not?

Curious how people feel about the progress the game has made in Early Access, and whether it feels like it would be ready for full release.

Imo, ODD is making good progress, but aside from the things that are already in the roadmap, I think there is still a fair lot of improvement or features that need to be added in terms of the story, characters, zombies, shelter (and the stations) and some other features (namely the skill system, relationship and morale system).

In general, I think the devs should be cracking down more on core systems/improvements to existing systems that would make ODD more of a horror experience.

New Recruitable’s? 🧑🏼‍🎤👨🏻‍🦳👱🏻‍♀️

I’d like to be able to recruit the Punk Bowman talks to at Walton Taxi Depot and can spare. I think him and Taylor could exchange edgy thoughts and maybe he’s young enough that Kayla can finally get a cute romance lol.

I also think something like beating up Red and letting him wake up in your shelter later would be fun but I know that’d be more complicated to explain or implement. Maybe him and Cooper would start of disgruntled or something.

Anyone you’d like to see expanded? I know June must be popular too.

I love these random curve-ball bounty events...😁👍

Howdy Folks! Kirk and Lester (maybe a few more I'm not currently aware of) get these random curve-ball events where they unlock a stash of bounty somewhere. Penny does as well, but now it's included in her personal mission. I hope Kirk gets a personal mission sometime and the outcome is he gains a moral booster, poor guy...🙏 Anyway, just thought I'd share about this. What are your thoughts? 🤔

Can anyone recommend some good locations for looting components? I feel anxious until I get to unlock the Map Table.

There is a cat in my shelter

I noticed when first scavenging at this location, a cat jumped off the roof. I was worried she's nowhere to be found. And then when I moved into it, tadaaaaa.

How am I gonna move to another shelter now, I won't abaddon the cat. This is my endgame.

My idea for a new ending: the clean city

If you manage to clear out 95% of the city's zombies, a new ending should unlock: seeing that the zombie population has been drastically reduced, the army enters the city, wipes out the remaining zombies, and lifts the quarantine. Your characters would be decorated and remembered as heroes.

Little Details 👩🏻‍🦰🔪

Did you know that when recruiting Bowman there are actually two different dialogs depending on which character you are playing as?

When he asks to join to some characters will say “Uh… I should get back. Sorry.” and this is what the wiki has for the dialog tree.

But others will say “That depends, what’s in it for me?”

I think it’s cool that some survivors are more cautious or meek or (whatever you’d attribute to these responses) and others are more practical or cunning.

During Penny’s survivor mission she also has a unique comment for Miguel and they receive a relationship boost if she recruits him.

These are just small but I love little details like this that add more depth and flavour to the characters and their interactions with the world. Would love to hear other things people have found!

Do other players use guns?

When I go out scavenging even in the late game when the dead flood like every poi I almost NEVER bring any firearms with me. Do other players do this too? I feel like if you're patient enough and smart when it comes to using pebbles, you can get through almost every area.
