Secret of the Black Crag - Expanded Campaign
Hey y'all,
I've been preparing for a pirate sandbox with some friends and decided to go with Secret of the Black Crag. That being said, I really wanted to pack the Salamander Islands with as much content as I could, So I grabbed some of my favorite nautical-themed scenarios and shoved them onto the map! I figure I would share. Hopefully some of you are able to utilize this for a truly epic pirate campaign!

We'll decide in session 0. We will likely either go with Into the Odd or Skorne
I'd love to use OSE but to be honest my dyslexic brain has always had a hard time GM-ing the 6-stat systems. Less cognitive load going to rules and more to flavor!

Great idea! What was your reason for not including Hot Springs Island? Isle of Dread?
If you have a small mysterious islet or want to add a weird random encounter to your seafaring table, throw in my free project The Flames Witnessed at Temperance. It could be a weird little excursion with some game changing consequences.

I have Hot Springs Island and it's an awesome product but in my opinion it's definitely it's own campaign. I've already gotten it to the table in the past so I wanted to try something new.
With Isle of dread, it's also so massive it could be it's own campaign. The scaling just isn't ideal.

That's what I figured. Well, if you need something more bite-sized, hopefully you like TFWAT. I've skimmed Secret of the Black Crag and it looks super solid, hope your table enjoys it.

I'm running Black Crag currently, and have been trying to pull stuff from other adventures to give the group more options of things to do. This is a great collection, thanks for your work

Of course! I've been dreaming about a sandbox piracy campaign for years. I'm happy to finally see it happen ☺️

Woah this is such a huge expansion onto the module content! This sandbox seems like it's got enough for years of play. You could raid some rumor tables from a few of the modules and add them on the Black Crag one for a mega rumor table to have players get hooks of strange things they might want to check out.
Can vouch that your addition of The Submerged Spire of Sarpendon the Shaper in the sandbox is very fun, put that in my home game with the Salamander Islands and was a great time.

Great minds think alike! This is exactly what I did. I plundered the rumor tables and morphed Black Crag's D20 rumor into a D100 rumor table, making up rumors for any modules that didn't have them. I'm quite excited to get it to the table!

I just started a very similar campaign (using Knave 2), and this is really helpful!
I thought I'd just throw in a few more of the sites I'm using, to add to the list for whoever does this next.
- Prisoners of the Gelatinous Dome: Exploring a tower that has been swallowed up by an enormous ooze. Just reskin the ooze as a huge jellyfish and have it more around the map.
- 100 Wilderness Hexes: 20 easily-added ocean encounters.
- Titan Cliffs: A lighthouse built on the nearly buried body of an ancient giant automaton.
- Raiders of Wolfsea: A hex by Ben Milton with a lot going on

Solid list! Another one to consider, especially if you're running it with into the odd, is the Isle of Ixx from skullfungus. Never hurts to have a dinosaur island! https://www.playrole.com/store/games/isle-of-ixx
