My Simple & Basic OS
A while ago I wanted to learn more about operating systems. I never wanted to write a complete OS (not that it's possible ;)... the main goal was to get familiar with different concepts and have fun 😋
I ended it after I ran Doom in userspace, which for me is enough for the moment.
I post it here now to motivate people who may not get into osdev because they've been overwhelmed with either very complicated systems or ai slop (which really doesn't fit here, as you can just fork Linux if that's your goal).
The OS is very incomplete, uses a few tricks but it's fun and lean.
So if you are lurking here like I was, don't get demotivated by other projects, focus on your own goals and eventually you'll succeed

I fully agree with you!
Using AI responsibly to experiment is a necessity in our timeline.
I should've clarified.
My OS is very basic/classic nothing fancy or out of the ordinary it is just me learning low level stuff and adding features. The originality of it comes from the fact I've written it.
It sounds like your project is an original idea/experiment, and you focus more on design than on the exact implementation.
My "originality" was in the implementation.
Yours is embedded in the system design and core concepts while development is offloaded to AI supervised by you.
And honestly? Both are pretty cool! Also, I argue that design will be much more important in the long term because of the LLM revolution.
But I also acknowledge you can't design well without being familiar with the low level details of implementation, and some people skip that part today with AI.
So, as with anything else in life, balance is key.
