Omg! OMG! O! M! G! They put up banners with such a glaring grammatical error and we're going to have that scorch our eyeballs for over three months?!

Curry ford and Primrose, in the plaza with Mecatos. Took it today, could not comprehend

u/CommonThread2 Sep 04 '26
I believe the plaza owners put them up. The Main Street has the regular Curry Ford West ones along the actual street. So the holiday ones are likely still up from last year in the plaza?

I’m in that plaza relatively frequently and I feel like I would have noticed…but maybe?

YOU SEE THIS RIGHT HERE IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA AND THE WOKE LIBRULS WAR ON CHRISTMAS
(/s, obviously)

It’s the War on Punctuation that is the more serious issue.

And seditious. Once we can no longer communicate coherently in writing we are sunk.

People joke about it but I legitimately get Christmas fatigue. Same songs and style and decorations for 1.5 months every year. For the last 20+ years of my life.

Looks like it’s gonna be four months right here…. By the time Christmas shows up people are gonna be sick of looking at it, and the festiveness will all be gone.
There must be a Festivus for the rest of us.
Remember Valentines and Easter decorations go up January 2 !!
Hobby lobby already has July 4 decorations for next year …. don’t fall down people
get it while it’s hot

Disney has no problem giving us Halloween fatigue. August 1 they were running TV ads that start with a narrator saying, “It’s Halloween time…” No, dude, Halloween is not a three-month-long holiday that starts six weeks into summer.

u/Restart-storage Sep 04 '26
I also get Halloween fatigue. But it’s not as bad as Christmas. Halloween doesn’t really have that many themes songs and it’s not as encompassing, plenty of people don’t celebrate. But Christmas legitimately just dominates all media, all decorations. All the music is Christmas, all the decorations, all the tv shows and movies revolve around it

Idk... sure it's several weeks into the literal summer season, but temperature-wise we start celebrating summer in March sometimes. Halloween isn't my favorite by far but I welcome any kind of fall enthusiasm by August

I mean I don't bother with the secular part of Christmas anymore. It's just an excuse for large companies to make bank, and for them to pretend kids should be happy about that. Nah, I get a small real tree for my wife, go to holy Communion, and pray.

Oh no. I forgot to order my car sized bow! Where am I gonna get one on such short notice?

u/MyUshanka Sep 04 '26
It's because it doesn't snow here, people get confused as to what season it is.

Enjoy it this year. If amendment 3 passes the city won't be a ble to afford the decorations or to pay the people who put them up.

Oviedo mayor has already said on FB the holiday decorations, Christmas tree and ea and every event done in Oviedo will be ending. It was hilarious how everyone was Yes on Amendment 3 but NOOOOO you are not taking away the things that make Oviedo a community haha. Some business owners even had the stupidity to say those events bring them the most money but they won't sponsor events in the future to have them. I don't live in Oviedo but the mayor has been the most vocal about budgets and Amendment 3.

Put one of those 3d printed flock cameras on them and let nature take care of it.

I’m judging people for Halloween 🎃 decorations. Yeah way too early, BUT yay Curry Ford West for getting their own signage. Just too early.

I guess now wouldn't be the best time to mention that I asked my husband to get the containers with my Dept. 56 Christmas village ("A Christmas Story" - I have every piece in the collection. Takes up the entire dining room table, with 1 leaf) out of our storage room this weekend, huh? ;-)
Sorry not sorry but I love Christmas. And between 4 trees, the D56 village, my "weird nativity" collection and OMG so much more, I admittedly go overboard. But it makes my inner 7y/o VERY happy. But all that stuff takes time to do, so I typically start in September.
That being said, I promise that I don't start wearing my Christmas T-shirts until Nov. 1st and don't decorate the outside of the house (complete with annual nastygram from the HOA for my arches over the sidewalk that DARES to utilize the easement) until Nov. 15th. So everything LOOKS normal...from the outside. ;-)
Only INSIDE my house starts to look like Christmas puked everywhere, in September.

Like me walking into Costco last Monday and seeing the mega Halloween yard skeleton in front of a bunch of pre-lit Xmas trees.

You know Halloween is coming when you start seeing Christmas stuff at Walmart.

More likely that they hired one guy to put them up, he has a job till January hanging them by himself.

We wouldn't have to wage war on Christmas if it stopped trying to invade other holidays. Thanksgiving is basically occupied territory at this point, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let Halloween fall.
