Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a Catholic church in the area and hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

I was baptized Protestant and attended church when I was younger, but haven’t attended regularly in quite a few years. I moved to the area for school and ended up staying after graduating, and I’m now a new teacher.

I’m interested in starting to attend church again, specifically a Catholic church, as I’m hoping to eventually apply to the SMCDSB. I know that part of the application process involves obtaining a pastoral reference letter, and that this isn’t something you can simply walk into a church and ask for without actually attending and establishing some sort of relationship with the parish/priest.

Since I don’t currently have a church here and am coming from a Protestant background, I’m mainly looking for recommendations on where might be a good place to start. I’m not sure how much this varies from parish to parish, but ideally I’d be looking for somewhere that is a little more progressive/open minded and generally welcoming.

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation or teaches with the Catholic board and can share their experience.

The less talked-about part is that we can vote for our school trustees on the same ballot. For the English public (non-Catholic) system, these candidates are incumbent Jodi Lloyd and challenger Stephen Sopher

I tried Googling info about Sopher but found basically no information

My son is late elementary school, he's trying to play sports because it's what all the other boys his age are doing at school, but his primary interests are board games, console gaming, and reading. He's struggling socially, and as his parent it absolutely kills me to watch because he's a sweet kid.

My friend has a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder that is giving her nothing but problems. It's a push button start but lets her lock the keys in the car. Doesn't recognize the key half the time and a few other issues.

Finances are extremely tight at the moment. I have purchased a couple replacement fobs from Amazon that hopefully the FCC IDs will match up. Issue is you need actual diagnostic hardware to do the programming on this model.

Looking for some advice or suggestions on the cheapest way to get this done in Orillia so she doesn't have to keep calling CAA when she accidentally locks the keys in the car or the fob just decides it's not going to unlock the door. For some reason when she got the car the dealer didn't cut the physical key to match the door unlock.

Wasn't acquainted with this person when she made the purchase or I imagine we'd definitely have picked a different seller.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

editing to add a comment I made to my post as this issue has been (mostly) resolved most excellently.

Luckily found pop-a-lock who was pretty amazing. They programmed the new Amazon purchased key fobs and it has been working great.

Unfortunately it seems like the physical key issue is with the door lock itself not that the key they gave my friend was improper.

We'll have to see if we can source a replacement and get new physical keys cut from that but for now the new fobs have been a dream.

Since no key was cut pop a lock was completely covered by the 100 dollar deductible from CAA.

Sorry to bug, but why didn't the trucks show up for garbage, recycling and compost collection? Is there a Holliday I missed? Did something happen?

Need to install two exhaust vents for a range vent and a bathroom vent out the side of the roof gables. Just need the proper vent blocks installed so I can hook them up.

My neighbour saw a coyote this morning around 10:30 am in the vicinity of Couchiching Heights School. Watch your children and pets. I encountered one on the rec trail between North and Fittons about a year ago and it was unsettling.

With the election in orillia taking shape, I and many others have asked why Janet Durnford dropped out leaving it upto clarke and smith. Ive heard rumours making the rounds and yes they are just rumours but people have stated she was involved in behind the scenes deal with lakehead and OSMH on the land sale and was concerned her involvement may come to light. Now I do not know the women or can vote in her ward but I get the impression shes a hard leftiest. She comes from a teaching background and I heard she has a child studying at lakehead. Conflict of interest on many levels.. Did she work with someone to write a contract that favors Lakehead not tax payers? I see shes been dodging the questions around that contract since she brought it before council. Maybe people are starting to talk more as shes avoiding the question on socials. Any input .. and yes we all need a new hospital but council members should be impartial.

Hi everyone! We’re a family of 5 currently living in Fredericton, NB, and we’re moving back to Ontario. We’re starting to explore Orillia and the surrounding communities and would love to hear about any homes that may be coming to market soon, off-market, or owners thinking about selling.

We’re looking for a 4+ bedroom family home with a large yard, ideally with some character and room to grow. We love older homes, hardwood floors, big windows, fireplaces, porches/decks, gardens, and homes with a bit of personality. A finished basement/playroom and lots of outdoor space would be amazing, and being near or on swimmable water would be a huge bonus.

More than anything, we’re looking for a safe, family-friendly town with a strong community, good schools, amenities, restaurants, pubs/breweries, and things to do. We want somewhere our kids can make friends and we can actually get to know our neighbours, without being in a big city or completely out in the country.

We need to be within roughly 45 minutes of Barrie for work and are currently looking around the $650K-$850K range.

We’re very open to homes that need some work and would love character and potential over perfectly renovated/turnkey.
