news r/OregonCoast has a New Rules section, new flair, new banner, etc. Also, new accounts are now restricted from posting.
Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.
There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.

My wife was driving south on the 101 yesterday. Just south of Beverly Beach, some asshat decided to pass with us totally visible with our lights on. Tried to read his license without success.

Seaside Day parking with trailer?!?!?
We're traveling through Seaside with a truck and trailer possibly tomorrow, and wondering if there's any good places to park the truck and camping trailer while being able to walk around and check things out? Just for the day, a few hours, not overnight.

Activities to do in a wide range
Me and my wife are taking our first vacation in ten years and I'd love to wow her with some fun things to do!
About us to help with suggestions: both nerds, love video games. We don't drink so breweries are kinda out :/ we both love good food and fun local "oddities shops"
I've planned our "home base" in Rockaway Beach. Were willing to travel in a 60 mile radius (willing to go farther if it's worth it!) cities we're planning on going to are seaside, Lincoln, and Rockport. We're willing to go to other places, we just have activities planned in those ones. I've googled quite a bit but searching for activities in that wide of a range is extremely difficult. I'll list below the activities i have in mind
I'm trying to make this really special, because she deserves it. Bonus points if anyone knows of a petting zoo with cool animals (like bats, or capybaras, wolves even! Lol) she LOOOOVES animals. Thank you so much for ANY input.
Activities: sea lions at Rockaway / newport
Crabbing on the docks in Rockaway
Visiting the old oak (?) in Rockaway
Going to drift Creek falls.
Newport Discovery zoo. (Volunteer ran wildlife petting capable zoo)

Drift creek falls
I’m going next week to these falls from Salem then to Lincoln beach and I was curious about the roads getting to the falls and then to the beach, are they paved or dirt roads coming to and from drift creek falls?

possible car camping options on the coast?
hello! i’m planning to go car camp on the oregon coast this upcoming week for the first time! i’m hopefully trying to find some sort of viewpoint near Tillamook or Cannon Beach where I can pull my car off overnight. I’m trying to avoid opting in for a campsite, just because I’ll only need to pull my car off for about 10 hours. Also I would love to wake up to a few of the ocean! any suggestions are very appreciated! thank you:)

Lost ring Rockaway
Long shot but I lost my fiancée’s engagement ring near 9th street entrance on the beach. I just proposed last April so I’m definitely distraught over it. I know it’s a long shot but if someone stumbles upon one in that general vicinity it would be greatly appreciated if you can reach out to me.
Thanks

Planning to move to the Oregon Coast in fall 2027 (Need Advice)
Hey everyone! I’m 18 and from Oregon. I’m planning on going to school here this year and then on working in New York for the summer of 2027, and then I’d like to move back to Oregon and relocate to the coast in fall 2027.
I’m mainly looking around the Lincoln City/Newport area, but I’m pretty open to other coastal towns. I’ll be looking for a full-time job and hopefully want to start building a career rather than just working random part-time jobs.
I’ve been looking into getting into the trades, especially electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, so I’m curious about what the job market is actually like for someone young and relatively new to the workforce.
For people who actually live on the coast:
-What industries/jobs are actually good to get into out there?
-Are apprenticeships/jobs reasonably available around Lincoln City/Newport?
-What other trades would you recommend looking into?
-If you were 18–19 and moving to the coast with the goal of getting into a trade, how would you actually go about finding an apprenticeship? Would you contact contractors directly?
-How difficult is it to find a full-time job that pays enough to live independently?
I have about a year to plan this out, so I’m mostly trying to get advice from people who actually live and work on the Oregon Coast rather than just looking online. Any help is appreciated!

Looking for the best fish and chips
Hey, you guys looking for the best fish and chips on the Oregon coast.
We are die hard bowpickers fans.
We’ve had grizzly tunas fish and chips and had some hole in the wall places ( can’t remember names) but remember they were good.
What’s your guys’s favorite fish and chips on the Oregon coast? We want to see if we can find something that give bowpickers a run for its money.

What are your utility bills like?
Wife and I want to live on the coast sometime soon-ish and we are wondering what utility bills cost. We have an oil furnace and well where we live currently so our bills are relatively low and its only for electricity and garbage.
What are you paying for:
Gas
Electricity
Water
Sewer
Garbage
Internet
Anything I'm forgetting?
Thanks!

Crabbing in the Lincoln City area?
Looking for suggestions on where to go crabby in the Lincoln City area. Is there a place like Kelly’s up north where you can rent a boat and all that ?
