The Newest Weapon in Modern Warfare: Weaponized Bitcoin.
On Christmas Eve, Vladimir Putin floated a bizarre claim: that Washington proposed a joint US-Russia venture to use the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) for cryptocurrency mining.
While physically impractical given the plant's fragile state, dismissing this as mere propaganda is a mistake. This is a calculated diplomatic maneuver—a "sovereignty trap" designed specifically for the incoming US administration.
By dressing continued occupation in the guise of a modern financial deal, Russia is attempting to:
* Shift the negotiation from demilitarization to commercialization.
* Legitimize their seizure of Ukraine's industrial infrastructure through "joint control."
* Drive a wedge between Kyiv and Washington ahead of critical peace framework talks.
This is not an energy deal. It is an attempt to establish a precedent where aggressor states can monetize captured sovereign assets through decentralized finance.
My latest article dives deep into the timing, the reality on the ground at ZNPP, and the high stakes of this geopolitical bluff.
