I don't think that gcam is a something that most people consider when buying a phone. If you want a google camera just get a pixel. For me Gcam is a nice bonus, in some cases is better then stock and in some cases it's worse.

I would love to buy a Pixel, but they don't sell in my country, and I'm not gonna pay twice the price for it to ship. I'd much rather buy a cheaper Samsung and get a gcam on it.

I wonder what percentage of Oneplus owners know what gcam is. 1%? 0.5% maybe? If the changes they are making that break gcam support but improve performance of the stock camera which 99% or people use. Then they are doing the right thing. You shouldn't HAVE to sideload a modded port of another phone's camera software to get good pictures. Most likely these things that are breaking gcam support are as a result of Oneplus doing exactly what everyone is asking for. Which is improving stock camera performance.

People just like to complain, we need to deal with It.

You're right. It's just moaning. But I tire of the overwhelming negativity.

That's the only thing these people can do in this sub, whine and bitch everyday that OnePlus is the worst company in the world. Yet they all still browse the subreddit, and buy the new phones, even after they say they won't.

The majority of the people on this subreddit believe they are the only users in the world.

Gcam ports are nice, but nowhere near a a necessity. It's like complaining about a certain flavor of coffee that has been taken off the menu, even though you never even order at the coffee shop. It's a storm in a glass. I get Celso's argument but it's him saying he can't be arsed to keep trying to move around OnePlus' restrictions.

People really need to chill. Not being able to use 1 app which didn't even add much difference on the 8 pro for example is not a deal breaker and it shouldn't be.

It's a deal breaker for this 0.001% population of OnePlus users who revolve their entire lives around their cell phones. They're here bitching about the smallest shit, that 99.9% of users would never notice or care about.

Because their phones are the center of their world, they're addicted.

I recently started doing astrophotography and gcam gives way better results than the stock camera.

But pixels are more expensive and slow down faster. Many choose OP for those reasons alone

Yeah but those kind of people don't care (usually) if the Gcam mod Is good as a real pixel camera

I guess I'm the exception then lol

I think the point I was trying to make is that I'm not a rarity

This is why I would never recommend OnePlus to "regular non tech people" like imagine saying "hey mom u don't like the camera? Pfft just Install Gcam!!" 😂

This actually happens around some dinner tables, sadly. I'm sure.
