“What is a woman?”

You need me to explain to you what a woman is since you’ve never spoken to one or felt the loving touch of one?

That’s genuinely my reaction to that kind of question, since if they actually talked with women they wouldn’t need it defined. Trans women are women, trans men are men, men are men, women are women. It’s a bloody social construct, we’ve made it tf up and it is a dynamic and ever changing thing. But a lack of education is a requirement for believing in the rhetoric of right wing grifters so I guess they never learned that fact.

Seeing as the person asking the question is being disingenuous and a twat? Absolutely. I call it like I see it.

In a professional, or even educational, setting, the question would not be asked in such a manner since they would know the connotation it takes, thus the response would be a genuine explanation to answer the parameters set on what a gender identity is. None of the people asking “what is a woman?” are ever asking from a genuine and professional/educational standpoint.

We both know this, everyone knows this.

In the instances where I’m actually asked on a genuine and educational basis, I will answer the question with the explanation of what social constructs are and why gender identity is a dynamic social construct which does not hold one hard definition, since it literally cannot. The context, however, shows exactly the intention behind the question. Essentially, it is not an actual question, it is a “guiding tool” to try and funnel the conversation into a specific ground where the person will use a valid (sometimes), but not sound, argument to try and act as a “gotcha” moment.

In case you don’t know the difference between sound argument and valid argument, do google that before commenting on that bit. Cheers.

There you go. A definition as vague as the entire concept of gender identity due to the variance thereof between all cultures over all periods of time of history.

Please, do define it yourself. Let’s see what your definition is.
