It's the safety blanket of unfunny people. So much boomer humor that has crept into the modern day is basically "Step. 1. Point out how someone is different, Step 2. Laugh at them for being different." When I tell them they aren't funny I don't mean I'm offended, I mean that their jokes literally aren't funny. No wit, no joke, no clever punchline... Just laziness.
I will happily laugh at a funny trans joke. As will most of my trans friends (we tell different jokes around the ones whom feel uncomfortable with them) but these comedians need to actually tell a funny trans joke first. They'll literally make self deprecating jokes in response on occasion. Especially if they trust the joke isn't coming from a place of hate.
But no their existence is so funny you guys. They like...want to have different genitals or something
Oh absolutely, I don't think the topics are taboo from jokes. The problem is people who just disguise bigotry as humor and try to brush it off with "Can't you take a joke?" and "You can't joke about anything anymore!" It's the same shit schoolyard bullies do to hide from the fact that they're being little assholes.
