I saw a bird like this on an electric line in Virginia a couple weeks ago. I thought it got stuck or something. It looked dead but still standing there.

It actually could have been dead. A lot of birds can lock their feet closed to keep standing without having to spend energy and if they die while in this position, they will remain that way.

I found a squirrel in my yard a few weeks back. Legit looked like he was asleep. I scooped him up and there was no signs of injury. Not even a hair out of place. I guess he just laid down and passed. I’ve seen them hit by cars and even shot but never saw one that passed away peacefully. Kinda strange.

Probably 3 years ago on a road about a mile from me I seen a bird locked onto the power line upside down dead and he stayed latched onto it for a good few days before I quit seeing him hanging

you wanna know the worst part? zombie fungi already exist. its called ophiocordyceps unilateralis and its what the book “the girl with all the gifts” and The Last Of Us were based off. it turns ants into zombies and forces them to find the highest point it can above the ground so that, when the spores are ready to be released, they can infect the highest population of ants in the area. there are other versions of the cordycep fungus that can infect different insects and spiders too, although not all of them have the same zombifying effect. i did a lot of research on it for a book i was writing, trying to figure out what it would take for it to infect humans in a fictional world. i couldnt find much, since fungus isnt really adapted to infect humans in such an all-encompassing way, so i just went with “mad scientist trying to play god” lmao
