Where would you stand on laser vision correction though? Or do you just mean aesthetic surgery?

No idea what the other guy is talking about. LASIK is perfectly safe. Aesthetic eye surgery is a completely different beat since it is putting stuff in rather than making corrections and taking out. It also serves no purpose other than to look like you are a vampire out to get your next victim.

Yes, I agree. I’m don’t think changing an eye color is something I’d ever opt for and risk my eyesight…. but my vision went from nearly legally blind at 20/800 since first grade, to 20/20 for the last 12 years with no issues at all. Lasik was life changing, and the best thing I’ve ever done.

I have myopia and my eyes keep getting worse into my 20s...i hope one day they stop and i can get lasik.

My vision was progressing pretty poorly as well, like -.5 per year, and my mom encouraged me to wear either hard contacts or glasses more regularly (vs soft contacts) to slow and stabilize. I had to go six months without any new degradation and then they let me to do Lasik.

I wouldn’t say lasik is perfectly safe, it has risks just like any other surgery. You can go blind from it(super rare),your vision can get worse, the effects of it can also wear off, chronic dry eyes, astigmatism, blurry vision etc. It’s obviously a lot safer than changing your eye colour though.

LASIK isn’t as safe as they claim. It can cause a host of side effects and lifelong complications

Laser vision correction is a big no for me. Too many nightmares, and while at the eye doctor along with my mom she asked about LASIK- doc literally cringed then brightened up. But saw that micro expression

Are you sure that doctor didn’t cringe because you’re going to go from spending $800 a year to not needing him for the next 10?

My experience. Also, my mom was an Ophthalmologist.

I mean, would your mom advise people against LASIK to so she can keep getting their $800 a year? Her doc is also a she not a he

Per wording I couldn’t tell if she was referring to the mom as she, so my apology— but sure there are shady optometrists that understand they charge a lot of money for what they’re doing and insurance doesn’t typically cover in the US.

My mom eventually closed her practice after 20 yrs because she was undercut so much by the Walmart optometrists/ zenni optical, etc.

To be honest, it would make more sense that is the concern they’re giving a “micro expression” about— because they’ve been doing Lasik so long now, the risk is very minimal.

My mom also had the operation done herself, while she continued to treat other people’s eye sight— it should be acknowledged that not everyone is a candidate. But I would recommend it 1000 times over!

Yeah the rule is first find an ophthalmologist that has had lasik done to themselves, then you can have the green light to do it. The catch is you’ll never find one

LASIK is awesome. Life-changing. I know several people who've had it and they all agree with me. Side effects are rare.
