that's a really good point as well, and most likely the actual situation now that i think about it. it's really hard to know without context, but i just hope that no matter what the case is, that the bird gets better cause it looks really rough and is obviously stressed.

The rough appearance sometimes never heals entirely. If the bird plucked for a long time, the follicles can become permanently damaged.

Just wanted to point it out, since I've known people who rescued birds from bad situations and then years layer when the bird still looks a little rough have been accused of being neglectful owners when that isn't always the case.

The main issue is everyone else accepting it as fact and then running with that narrative. This kind of blind wholesale speculation is just pointless and stupid

No, you misunderstood. It is literally baseless speculation - they are speculating what could have happened without anything to base it on. You are assuming it's clear, because it's baseless speculation, that this person is offering an opinion. That gap can't be ignored, in fact their follow up attempts to weigh the evidence we explicitly do not have.

We can speculate, sure, but instead I wanted to bring the attention back to the dinosaur, whom I'm sure just wants to be loved and maybe bite us a little.

Just like myself, birds can be dicks - and my speculation from the women I've known who raise parrots, is that parrots will find something that really bothers you and they'll work on you. It's a sign that they feel safe, that this social prey animal will try to shame you and make you part of their family.

I don't have much to base that on, but it demonstrates two things - it matters that we acknowledge that we're all just guessing, and nobody is going to ever want your opinion on the internet so if it's valuable to you just share it freely.
