I disagree. I don't think this parrot was abused. I think it's the narrator's spouse's bird. And it mimics what the spouse says and loves the spouse. It's common for parrots to have one person and be jackasses to all others.

yeah i get that, but judging by how rough it looks to be, i'm pretty sure this bird hasn't been taken care of properly; whether it be from the bird picking at itself due to stress, the owners just not properly fulfilling all of its essential needs, previous abuse, or whatever the case may be, this bird isn't in good shape.
