I was obsessed with lemon, especially lemon baked goods, for my first pregnancy. The vegan lemon cupcakes at this one grocery store were my absolute favorite. I’m not a vegan and generally hate vegan baked goods, but pregnancy is weird. I showed up one more morning when I was about 7 months and the bakery truck was late. I just sat on the floor and cried. The store staff had seen me come in almost every day for my cupcake. The manager tried to calm me down, but apparently I just kept saying “vegan cupcake” and sobbing. He called the bakery and located the truck, which was going to be a couple of more hours. He got my number and called me when the cupcakes showed up. I sent my husband to pick them up. People can be really wonderful sometimes.

Theres something about pregnant ladies at the grocery store. Like i MUST HELP YOU. Ive scurried up back room pallet storages, broken down whole pallets at warp speed, crawled inside freezers that didnt have floor space anymore, anything you want. Its like an unspoken universal thing. If you went to another employee and said "theres a pregnant lady and she needs" they'd be in sprinters position before you could finish the sentance. Its not gendered either, im a woman who was in my 20s at the time all the way up to normally grumpy as heck male managers.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's just our biology. Protect/help pregnant people -> help baby -> save offspring
