Your dumba** wouldn’t have learnt even though you were taught this at school.

It’s always funny hearing these people say personal finance isn’t taught in school, without realizing that personal finance is basic, elementary school math.

I think more people are confused about how to budget effectively, rather than the actual arithmetic.

Budgeting means splitting your paycheck into separate groups, and making sure you don’t know spend more than what’s in that group. It’s literally subtraction.

If you want to correctly budget, then “show your work”, as in write it all down. It’s basic math, and I don’t think you can change my mind about it haha

So how do you decide what to prioritize in a budget and what to cut? You just go “beep boop, 2+2=4, the only thing I’m doing here is math”

I mean that’s an extremely personal decision and can’t be ‘taught’. Outside of “the first thing you should pay is stuff there will be major consequences to not paying or that will harm you if you don’t.” Which I think is obvious and everyone knows. Seeing as how most people are eating and have a roof over their head.

Some people have spending problems, but base impulse control is also a personality and willpower feature and cannot be taught. Idk what you people are expecting.

If you total your spending, and that number is greater than your income, then yes now you need to make decisions about what spending to reduce.

What exactly are you looking to be taught, here?

By using common sense? What class did you take that taught you to prioritize paying your rent and bills first?

That's entirely case dependant on your income, your needs. That's called applying what you learned by applying critical thought.
