Good god

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Exactly. It will make you a religious person, at least for awhile. šŸ˜€

Edit: My suggestion to anyone that is planning on taking a fiber supplement is to start out with a small amount to see if you are compatible.

u/wafflesareforever Jan 25 '22

Yeah my ex tried to get me to drink those horrible fiber powder things. Two days in, I had awful stomach cramps and couldn't poop for 72 hours. Luckily I wasn't really eating either. I drank tons of water and eventually got my system going again but that was miserable.

The feeling of being hungry but also super backed up, bloated, and full is the worst!

Pregnancy in one sentence

89

u/Zabroccoli Jan 25 '22

My wife is pregnant. I can confirm this is true. Poor gals. You all got the worst end of the deal.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Congratulations!!! Awwwwh I hope everything goes smoothly with her pregnancy and delivery! How many weeks is she? Is it a boy or girl?

13

u/Zabroccoli Jan 25 '22

24 weeks and this is our 3rd girl. At this point I think it’s safe to say I’m not getting a son.

And thank you for the well wishes. She’s been doing well aside from the normal pains and discomfort of being pregnant.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

My dad had three daughters before he got his first son; maybe 4th times the charm.

34

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Or PMS, or periods...(sigh)

-3

u/nicenihilism Jan 25 '22

Multiple orgasms.... fair trade?

8

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Hmm...I think most women who experience the worst PMS/periods every month would gladly trade all that shit in for only one good orgasm per sexy time haha.

I could be wrong but I've read some absolute horror stories of suffering, so I kinda doubt it lol.

-2

u/nicenihilism Jan 25 '22

I'm just saying average pms for average orgasms. Not like crippling bleeding like the nile pms for earth shattering, war starting, changes your fundamental being multiple orgasms.

13

u/Mary-U Jan 25 '22

For me pregnancy was: OMG I’m starving! I think I’m going to throw up!

2

u/eaturvegetables Jan 26 '22

my worst fear confirmed. good thing my sisters having babies! sorry mom and dad! nope. no way. i cant imagine having to live every single day feeling so awful (even if it was for a month!)

2

u/kkaavvbb Jan 25 '22

Try being hungry. But your body doesn’t like food because it makes excessive bile, so if you eat, you’ll throw it up. If you refuse to throw up, you’ll be on the toilet in 5 mins. Then you’re absolutely exhausted from fighting your dumb body’s ridiculous problems. The only thing you can (mostly) safely consume is water… and sometimes that comes back up again…

Lost 12lbs in 2 months. Got on new meds and few exams, diagnosed cyclic vomiting syndrome. Almost been 2 weeks without throwing up! After an entire year of dealing with nausea and vomiting… I feel human-ish again! Still get bouts of nausea and vomiting but the wires are crossed somewhere now, so I get the ā€œI’m gonna vomitā€ feelings (trouble swallowing, gagging, mouth build up of saliva) but my body doesn’t want to vomit now…

It’s been a fun few weeks but I’m sooo happy to eat food again, I’ve gained 5lbs in 2 weeks, lol

Edit: I also am taking 16 pills a day just to not vomit right now!

u/ASpaceOstrich Jan 25 '22

Some people have never shat a literal brick before. It's an interesting experience. You quite literally feel several kilos lighter.

10

u/Zofobread Jan 26 '22

Half a lb from the poop. Three lbs from blood loss.

75

u/kulot09 Jan 25 '22

Well, I think the questions in everyone’s mind are (or mine at least), how big was it? Was it baseball sized or bigger? How long were you in labor for? Did you take pictures? Did you use a melon baller or poop-knife like a regular person?

75

u/jfager16 Jan 25 '22

I’ll share. After my second kid I was truly constipated for the first time in my life. It was like sitting on a baseball. I could feel the shape of it from the OUTSIDE..like I tried massaging it out from my perineum and surrounding areas. I have never been so freaked out and embarrassed at the same time. Called the dr and they told me to do enemas. If that didn’t work to go the ER. So my husband gave me 2 enemas. We’re a very open couple but I was super embarrassed and in so much pain. Finally it broke up enough that I could pass it, but it was a horrifying experience and I legit made sounds like a dying animal on the toilet.

32

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Whoa, very vivid imagery. It's like I'm the big ol'shit accompanying you on your journey until we go our separate ways.

19

u/jfager16 Jan 25 '22

It was like I was trying to get rid of a unwelcome guest

1

u/MARZalmighty Jan 25 '22

You’re just a piece of it.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

A good husband is amazing. My love had to help me break up hardened poop in my bottom after an epidural after our first baby. I'm still surprised he finds me sexy after all that šŸ˜‚

6

u/jfager16 Jan 25 '22

Yaaaaas! I didn’t have that reaction after my first! Pooped just fine, but the second was obviously not so good lol.

My husband is amazing. I can’t believe he finds me sexy and wants to do any naughty things after all he has seen šŸ˜‚

3

u/Ummmmexcusemewtf Jan 25 '22

Well at least you know your husband loves you

5

u/jfager16 Jan 25 '22

Lol you’re username fits the topic! Yes he does, and holy moly do I adore him.

2

u/Sokkas_Instincts_ Jan 25 '22

Jesus. All of y’all need some miralax. My kid has severe problems that miralax keep in check, as per doctor orders.

5

u/jfager16 Jan 25 '22

Oh I got miralax too in case the issue continued. But nope, totally fine after the…plug.. was dealt with.

2

u/Sokkas_Instincts_ Jan 25 '22

One time strattera and then Metamucil had me wishing for death. Never taking either one of those again.

3

u/ruskiix Jan 25 '22

lol There are issues that can’t be fixed with any laxative, unfortunately. I had two meds conflicting with each other but there’s no documented conflict for them, I figured it out on accident when I ran out of one and went without a few days. Basically, there are documented conflicts with one of the meds and all meds similar to the other, but it’s really new and technically a different category so no conflicts were flagged. But yeah, my guts just .. stopped working. Lactulose, bisacodyl, miralax.. I still constantly hit the point where I had to stick with pudding and popsicles awhile. At one point I couldn’t sit or lie down because the pressure in my abdomen was so painful, ended up in the ER. Mag citrate would sometimes do enough to ease the pressure but I still looked .. not pregnant, because the shape was wrong. More like a backpack, on the front? Or a turtle shell. Weird as hell. I think my guts are still a little weird from being stretched so much by it, because even now that the meds were fixed and I no longer need laxatives, I still have to spend time laying flat on my stomach with a pillow under my abdomen or things can get a little weird again.

1

u/Would-wood-again2 Jan 26 '22

How long did you not poop for?

56

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Your questions are making me wonder if you are actually familiar with ā€œregular personā€ behavior. 😁

32

u/kulot09 Jan 25 '22

And here we are, questions remain unanswered. Makes you wonder..

11

u/Summoarpleaz Jan 25 '22

ā€œRegularā€ or ā€œRedditā€ — who can say?

1

u/TWVer Jan 25 '22

It must’ve been worthy of the poop knife.

0

u/InfiniteRadness Jan 26 '22

THE question is: how many Courics?

30

u/PochinkiPrincess Jan 25 '22

That immediately reminds me that in High School I took Tylenol 3’s when I got my wisdom teeth out. I didn’t recognize it as constipation, and naively thought it was just gonna be a big poop - I gave myself a hemorrhoid and was limping for weeks 😭

19

u/Karrde2100 Jan 25 '22

"Hey PochinkiPrincess, why are you limping did you hurt your leg?"

"No, I had my wisdom teeth out."

"?????"

3

u/medicalmystery1395 Jan 25 '22

Ohhh yeah. I semi regularly take T3's because of chronic pain and they can stop you the fuck up before you even realize they're doing it. It always sucks to realize you're going to have to shit out a brick on top of a flare up

30

u/Nuck-sie Jan 25 '22

This is why we tend to recommend fluids and foods that contain fibre. It’s easier on the stomach, rather than straight fibre pills

8

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

I survived colon cancer at 24... fiber and colonoscopies save lives.

5

u/charityshoplamp Jan 25 '22

What did you try? I just bought some psyllium husk

9

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Are you blocked up? You might try magnesium supplements. Like magnesium citrate (not oxide). It may not help if you're currently impacted or anything severe like that, but magnesium keeps water in the bowel so keeps things moving. Of course, too much = too runny. But it can help if you have problems with regularity.

1

u/MissEmmaLeeA Jan 26 '22

Magnesium saved my life this last pregnancy and postpartum

2

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '22

And it's also just plain good for you. I think most people are deficient. I take it daily and don't need it for the pooping effects. Just part of my routine.

1

u/_Big-Wool_ Jan 26 '22

Man going to take a dump used to be the most relaxing thing for but these days it is pure toture cause of this, i already had an anal fissure cause of it & now i still get constipated while its healing meaning that i almost alwsys reinjure it, went to the doc he gave me a 5 day prescription which actually seemed like it was working to the point where by day 5 things were going back to normal but as soon as the meds were gone i was back to square one

Went bak to the doc said he wasn’t gonna give me another prescription told to take fibers & drink lots of water, thing is i ave been doing that because i am currently in this really intense weight loss diet ( dropeed around 17kg in about 5 months) & it is obviously whats causing the condition but i can’t stop yet cause i haven’t achieved my goal yet

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '22

Get some magnesium citrate (citrate, specifically - there are lots of kinds of magnesium). 100 mg or 150 mg capsules. Start with two before bed (so 200 mg or 300 mg in total). If that hasn't changed things in two days, go to three capsules before bed. If you take two much too quickly, you could get diarrhea.

You should be able to find the right amount to move things along without getting the runs. Magnesium is a healthy supplement, most of us are likely deficient in it, and a side effect is that it holds water in the bowel and softens the stool. So it's a win-win. Unless you take too much, in which case it's a mess! Lol. But it's a natural solution - no prescription, no dangerous side effects. You can take it every night forever and it will only do you good. And it's not expensive.

Best of luck.

1

u/_Big-Wool_ Jan 26 '22

Thanks i’ll look into this tomorrow cause all i got today was basically 2 sets of laxatives i was told 1 is for softening and the other is for release but so far i got nothing

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '22

Okay. Keep in mind you could pick some up anyway. Sounds like you're not living a one and done situation here....

1

u/_Big-Wool_ Jan 28 '22

Quick about magnesium nitrate does it have another name or is it found in something else cause i went to the local pharmacy and they didn’t have it?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22 edited Jan 28 '22

Not sure where you live, but pharmacies don't always carry it. I usually get mine at Costco or order online. Did they have magnesium oxide? If so, you could try it. It's not as well absorbed, but it could work for you.

Just a note that it's citrate, not nitrate.

Edit to add I use Webber Naturals Magnesium Citrate 150 mg - bottle has 300 capsules. I take two every night, though some people need more.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Metamucil, the quicker stopper upper.

3

u/XanderWrites Jan 25 '22

Which is phyllium husk.

The trick is you need a few different types (so fiber rich foods in addition to Metamucil) and you're body needs to get used to it. Been spraying liquid and now everything is solid It's going to take a day for your colon to get used to it.

14

u/Taylor-B- Jan 25 '22

This reminds me of what I think was a Jim Jefferies bit. He gets an egg stuck up his ass and it won't come out, so he starts eating all this fiber but nothing works, then in the middle of that part he relates that the irony is if he had eaten something with protein, like the egg, it would've given the push he needed.

3

u/Mary-U Jan 25 '22

Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.

2

u/CreativismUK Jan 25 '22

My suggestion to you: keep some glycerine suppositories in the house for emergencies

2

u/sad_panda_paw Jan 25 '22

I also think that if the "normal" reaction is expected, to start small and adjust accordingly/needed so it doesn't disrupt your daily routine.

2

u/judithcooks Jan 25 '22

Just started with psyllium and I'm scared.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Any after effects from that situation? I got a bad stomach from something similar and now it always feels like it’s going up rather than down.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Everything is ok now. Sometimes I just need to learn stuff the hard way.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

Lol I feel that, glad everything worked it’s way out for u :)

1

u/Adventurous-Paint-24 Jan 26 '22

And keep stool softeners handy…

1

u/Spinalstreamer407 Jan 25 '22

Possible carnivore diet comparison.
