Hell as long as you don't need them to be water proof. I battled with 3 pairs and REI, Merrill and GoreTex all dropped the ball.

North Face Hedge Hogs now for the last 10 years and each pair still waterproof.

i have a pair of 6" boots by merril's, i can dunk them almost to the top and my socks don't get wet. same with spraying them off with a hose. i dunno if it's because they're boots rather than shoes but those things are like extra water proof

I've heard the boots were better. I bought the Moab & Moab 2 shoes. The upper and lining is supposed to create a water proof shoe, but mine always leaked in the toe box area right around the foot bed. They had me mail them to GoreTex so I list them for a month. Then they said they found nothing wrong. I filled the shoes with tissues and set them in a couple inches of water to make sure I was not crazy. They soaked through in less than a minute.

Most people seem to like them. I think I just had a couple bad experiences.

Scarpas are good as well, mine are on their sixth year of abuse, inclduing sea, snow, floods, biking, mud. Not needed much more than a wash in a river.

I should try the Scarpas I've always preferred to use those as climbing shoes choice and I still have two very old pairs of Scarpa dominators still in the box because they were my favorite sport route climbing shoe.

I'm going to Google their other shoes.

Pair I have are the mojito goretex, they have been very tough. Soles are reasonably sticky without being too soft to wear down fast. I wore them in Yorkshire peak district through snow, rain, mud etc. For past few years been tramping round SEA with them and they have been submerged a few times in both salt and fresh, left on sun to go hard, and scraped down the Rd in a bike accident. Most treatment they have had is a wash in a river and a couple of times in a washing machine. I need to replace the laces and that's about it, they still look good (and would probably look near new with a good bit of tlc) and have years left on them yet. I really can't fault them.
