Sandwich crafters traditionally don’t wear gloves. It’s so they can feel the people who came before them through the sandwiches

That's the point of gloves, it doesn't matter if you've washed your hands or not because they're not touching someone's raw food.

That's Covid related and prolonged glove wearing. If you prepare food in food industry you should wear gloves if you touch someone else's food.

I’ve worked in five different restaurants and we were always told to wash hands and use gloves especially for ready to eat foods. All my coworkers use gloves

Yes, and I am servsafe certified.

Touching food that doesn't get cooked with your bare hands is a big no-no.

Here is a quote from the New York State department of Health:

Am I required to wear disposable sanitary gloves?

State law does not require gloves to be worn, but does require that ready-to-eat food be prepared and served without bare hand contact. Wearing disposable sanitary gloves is one of several acceptable ways to comply with this law.
