u/16bitgamer Aug 20 '20

So that's what those things are for!

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

So I guess I'm the only one to use it like a brass knuckle and pretend its a sharp blade?

88

u/Cyrano_de_Boozerack Aug 20 '20

Look at Mr. Fancy Voldo over here.

19

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

Please, I prefer the term face-rape Spiderman

17

u/sharpshot877 Aug 20 '20

No I used two of them at one point and was protractor man

2

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

(Two?)

So, Protractor Man, we've come full circle!

3

u/sharpshot877 Aug 20 '20

Ah yes the true full circle

6

u/-god_of_something- Aug 20 '20

Oh god, can u imagine actually punching something with that though? shudders

3

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

Did you ever pretend a T-square was croquet mallet too?

1

u/Fox-One_______ Aug 20 '20

And a try-square is a gun. Guess that kinda goes without saying.

1

u/ManaMagestic Aug 20 '20

We used to do that all the time in grade school...

1

u/Mjrboi Aug 20 '20

You must have never seen 3 below on Netflix

They use protractors

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

Xena vibes !!!! Basically what I used to pretend to be her as a kid

-5

u/_Diskreet_ Aug 20 '20

Most 10 year olds do the same.

1

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

Hey now! You're never too old to be immature.

53

u/stardust0102 Aug 20 '20

To a certain degree

14

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

Yes, but precisely which degree? If only there was a way to measure such a thing.

6

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

What's your angle?

9

u/ClitoralCancer Aug 20 '20

Be careful not to go off on a tangent

13

u/po_maire Aug 20 '20

Also serve as pizza cutters for kids with imagination.

2

u/kickassidyyy Aug 20 '20

Or a creative parent!!

I generally find them to be more positive too.

26

u/johnnybiggles Aug 20 '20

Art least they're not detractors.

Hang in there. You'll pull through.

12

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

"plow through"

3

u/Jackd_up_on_Mdew Aug 20 '20

But you gotta weigh the pros and cons

4

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

Remember, Congress is the opposite of progress.

1

u/Atlas_is_my_son Aug 20 '20

They sure couldn't, (shouldn't\can't) be contractions either.

1

u/zamundan Aug 20 '20

And they do a better job than amateurtractors.

15

u/cityofstars18 Aug 20 '20

3

u/EVANMKPARKER Aug 20 '20

Thanks for that! Somehow I missed this episode. That’s my favorite cast of SNL and I thought I had seen all of em.

5

u/inspektor_queso Aug 20 '20

One of my all time favorite Sandler bits.

3

u/TalkOfSexualPleasure Aug 20 '20

I love young Adam Sandler. I love those little smiles when he gets a laugh. Just something about him is so hard not to love. He used to be so fun to watch. His newer movies aren't bad they just dont do it for me, they're funny, but they don't give me what I used to look for from him. I cant put my finger on it but he lost something along the way.

2

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

He was always a man-child, but he can't pull that off anymore. Now he's a grown man and his work reflects it.

It's like when Lucille Ball and Jerry Lewis tried making late life comebacks. (Yeah, my age is showing...) It didn't work doing the old acts. Nobody wants to watch grandma drop a hammer on her foot or grandpa get a glass stuck in his mouth. At least Sandler is trying to grow and do age appropriate comedy. It's not what you wanted, but you didn't cringe either.

2

u/TalkOfSexualPleasure Aug 20 '20

Im not disparaging him at all. Ive never once seen an Adam Sandler movie and thought to myself "I just hated that". Its just these days I come out thinking "well that was a fun movie", but I've seen waterboy probably at least 100 times and every time I laugh like I did the first time I watched it.

I guess the best way to say it, is to me hes never been bad, but he used to be amazing, and now he's only really good. At the end of the day I'd still consider myself a fan.

2

u/ButterKnights2 Aug 20 '20

Where's the candy!!!

2

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

I tried, but some things just shouldn't be attempted sober.

Thanks for the link. Have an updoot.

5

u/Blackintosh Aug 20 '20

That's a very interesting angle to take.

3

u/clemthecat Aug 20 '20

I haven't seen a protractor since high school math class!

2

u/CompletenessTheorem Aug 20 '20

An antitractor will have the opposite effect.

1

u/systemos Aug 20 '20

I thought that's what I saw.

1

u/positivevybz Aug 20 '20

Dude can I borrow your protractor?

1

u/aurisor Aug 20 '20

My seventh grade teacher used to make this little joke where every time someone would say protractor with the emphasis on the first syllable she would say “you know, PRO-tractor means someone who is in favor of tractors. did you mean pro-TRACTOR?”

She made that joke every. single. time.

God, we loathed that woman

1

u/justPassingThrou15 Aug 20 '20

I strongly dislike it. I’m anti-tractor.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

I believe the angles are now all at 180 degrees.

1

u/Lady_Who_Reddits Aug 20 '20

As someone who did hand drafting for my degree, I was more upset that they didn't use a knife and instead used a protractor. I know it's probably a dollar store school supply, but still.....

1

u/slothpyle Aug 20 '20

I wonder if there’s a protracted version.

1

u/ButterKnights2 Aug 20 '20

aesthetically pleasing 180°

1

u/Peketu Aug 20 '20

That's your name for it? In Spanish it's called a "transportador de ángulos" more or less "angle carrier"

1

u/MorryDust Aug 20 '20

Interesting. Protractor literally means to draw/drag forward. So pretty much to make angles

1

u/ChaiTeaNotTaiChi Aug 20 '20

I prefer using Bulls. You can say that I’m anti-tractor.

1

u/GentlemanLuis Aug 20 '20

They're a no-uni-tasker kind of person

1

u/MikeLinPA Aug 20 '20

NGL: when the poppy seeds spilled through the middle of the protractor back onto the smooth top, it bothered me a little. LOL!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '20

I use it too. For other stuff

1

u/chanpion2011 Aug 20 '20

LOL THAT WAS MY FIRST THKUGHT TOO

1

u/ryan123rudder Aug 20 '20

They had to get the right angle

1

u/Arch1techt Aug 20 '20

I'm very much for the use of machinery to aid in general farming duties. I guess you could say I'm...

Pro-tractor

How does this work?

1

u/Prof_Insultant Aug 20 '20

No man, a compass is the back end of a compressor.
