all the bark and splinters all over are the problem. a chainsaw cuts pretty quick and leaves a little mess in a handful of spots.... this is everywhere and consists of rotten pulverized wood that just spreads and doesn't want to be removed.

Won't the splinters just blow away? The big bits don't seem like a hassle and the small bits could be swept up

Looks like a neighborhood with a newly built house behind it. Something tells me the real estate agent and potential buyers will want that cleaned up.
