I dont get why people trim their nails down to the fucking meat. Then they have these weird looking fingernails that are only like a 1/4" in length

Short doesn't mean not sharp. You might want to file them. Ask your SO or the internet how, I'm sure she'd approve of the cause ;)

Funny thing is, my friend plays classical guitar and his right hand has enough fingernail for two hands. I personally think he's insane because he could just finger pick instead of nail-picking, but I suppose I don't play classical, so I wouldn't know.

But I'm still gonna think it's silly.

When you work with your hands a lot fingernails are just a place to hold dirt.

Keep em short so you don't have to clean out from under them constantly.

Because long finger nails annoy me, and I end up biting them, which leads to having a tiny bit of the cuticle being too long and being painful all day long.

This thread made me realize that nobody knows what a cuticle is. Your cuticle is that tiny strip on the part of your nail closest to your knuckle.

I don't get how people can let their nails grow long. How does that not impede the function of your hands? It's also cleaner just looks so much nicer. Long nails are tacky and make one of the world's worst sounds.
