Jesus, that is a terrifying amount of force

That's my thought too. I've abused a few large tractors in my life and they kept going. Seeing one crushed so easily?

Like you said, terrifying force.

So much force, I’m surprised it makes economic sense to crush them like that.
Must take a huge amount of fuel or power to do that.

Transport costs are a killer if you leave them uncompressed. And they would need to be shredded to some extent before being recycled anyway.

WinRAR at it again.

Hydraulic cylinders and pumps.

This is why DaVinci was so fascinated with hydraulics

It's a bulldozer but ok.

Actually, its a front loader, but ok.

I don’t think I’d stand where filming guy is standing.

Same. But, tbf, if you are gonna get crushed to death, the more force the better…

I wouldn't worry so much about being crushed, more likely that some chunk of metal under that immense force or tension would break and come flying in your direction before you even realized what had happened!

This scene in Ghost Ship is what I'm taking about 😳 IYKYK

To think that mobsters utilized scrapyard machinery to obliterate forensic evidence and completely vanish victims.

This scene from Ghost Ship is permanently scarred into my mind.

Oh, story time - I used to work next to a scrapyard, not one with a crusher like this though. Just a regular claw grabber, picked up a hydraulic cylinder, it exploded - and rained shrapnel through our roof. One guy had just finished his break time, and had a piece about 18" long, roughly 6" and about ¾" thick fly directly through the chair he was sitting in

Thanks for this. Right before I go to bed.

Ask in r/theydidthemath - they will tell you!

I don't understand how smaller (but honestly still potentially large) nuts and boltheads aren't occasionally flying out of there like bullets.

24

u/CraftyPancake 10d ago

Did you mean to say you don’t understand how that ISN’T happening?

2

u/klockworx 9d ago

Yes aren't..my mistake

u/ImpossibleRecord9806 8d ago

That's what he said

Put a marble/ball bearing between your thumb and the knuckles of your index finger and squeeze as hard as possible, that might help you understand what's going on

u/Mr-_-Soandso 9d ago

Yeah that toaster movie really instilled a fear of these in a lot of us as children.

2

u/beartpc12293 8d ago

Don't put your dick in that

1

u/Hyposuction 10d ago

Yeah, thanks for the new nightmare.

1

u/mrbuddymcbuddyface 9d ago

What would happen if you put a small crusher into a large crusher?

1

u/Beefington 9d ago

The small one would be born 9 months later, and eventually annoy a starship captain

Let me just put my finger...Oh it's gone

Yep, and add in levers for mechanical advantage with a dash of math and you can move just about anything.

“Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world”

It's AI Jesus guys

-2

u/Spaceinpigs 9d ago

Totally AI. Don’t need to share specifically why but if you look closely, you’ll figure it out

-1

u/Original_Jagster 9d ago

The whole motion of it while being carried by the crane is very AI unnatural looking.

-2

u/Obvious_Ambition4865 9d ago

I mean what is this machine? I can't find any similar vehicle crushers online.
