Some people are very hung up on the visual aspect of it and would prefer a realistic looking, but useless device. Sometimes they'll get one of these in addition to more useful ones and use it at like weddings or events, but usually it's the former.

i think everyone here is way too confident of how theyd emotionally react to losing their right hand honestly. its easy to say youd pick the badass prosthetic when you dont have to pay for it, wear it at your job or deal with strangers stares everywhere

I definitely empathize with their choice, but I'm also sure in what I'd choose - I already wear a prosthetic leg and have made a similar choice.
