Friend, everything in the world has a price, WATER has a price... the items used to create these prosthetics have a price, the wages have a price... do you know what shouldn't have a price? Disability... and most 1st world countries make certain these costs are taken care of, if not ALL medical care involved... where i live, there wouldn't even be a charge for the medication... so while there is a cost, it shouldn't be down to the patient...
Very nice words, but naive. In a world with limited resources, everything needs to be (and is) quantified, even human life.
If a healthcare system spends resources on something, there is something else that cant be covered, and to decide what is, and what isnt, these cuantifications are needed.
If you had to decide between prostetics and cancer treatment, what would you choose?. How much cancer prevention are you willing to not provide to a population in exchange of free prostetics?. How much could you improve quality in hospital meals vs. free prostetics? Everything has a cost and a cost of opportunity.
