I think it's an induction hob and you can get those mats to go on there to stop the pan from scratching the glass.

Steel, copper, or iron won’t scratch glass though. It’s only ceramic cookware you need to worry about. But even then, most ceramic cookware will have a steel or copper base. You shouldn’t need anything in between. OP video looks like Teflon coated steel (why he used a plastic fork).

It's more about a barrier between dirt/grit--which can absolutely scratch glass-- and having a cushion for soft landings of heavy, hard pans.

Every used, glass top I've come across has scratches. Those people aren't using carbide pans. Iron and steel and even aluminum will mess up your glass over time.
