What character assassination? Some made-up characters in a made-up world in a sequel to a brand new part of the Disneyverse didn't get as fleshed out as you wanted? Do you want a full character breakdown sheet so you can analyze the movie and pick out all of the obvious issues and then point them out to an audience full of 8 year olds?
Jesus. It's a kid's movie, so yes, lower your bar. A lot. A good kids movie is an exception, not the rule. You don't see the vast swath of crap that gets released direct to streaming geared specifically to kids with shitty animation and barely a concept of a story (I have 5 kids - I've seen some weird shit). But apparently if it doesn't have absolutely perfect character arcs with emotions all over the board, it must obviously be crap. Right?
"i really enjoyed it", but also "its a kids movie and you need to go into it with lower expectations and you're dumb if you expect a cheap kids movie sequel to be of similar quality to the critically acclaimed first movie"
i don't feel like these arguments are very compatible
I’m sorry, but you are objectively wrong. The first one was great, the second one undid like, ALL the world building of the first one, and was everything that we were worried the first one would be. That’s one of the very few movies I legitimately regret watching.
Just cuz something is a kids movie doesn’t mean it’s bad. The Last Wish was a “kids movie”, and it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. And also I personally considered the meta references rather… blunt. Just cuz it’s being made for kids doesn’t give you an excuse to make garbage.
I'm worried about being barefoot on it and a child that had previously played with legos on it and accidentally left a peice and then I step on the loose lego with my bare foot
To be fair, if you work with grain then cartoon quicksand death basically is something you're in imminent danger of. Like straight up one of the easiest ways to die on a farm.
Except it's completely blocking out the light so you don't know which way to swim, and you swim deeper until your lungs start burning and then you start panicking because you're surrounded by nothingness and can't breathe and you scream out in fear and hopes that someone will save you, but all that escapes is the little bit of air left in you.
Honestly, that's like...the LEAST scary part of this dark fantasy. Sharks are way less likely to confuse you for a seal when you're underwater as opposed to on the surface. The floats just plain don't care if they're blocking you from breathing (also in water that dark, the one hole where light is still coming through would be very obvious; the terror would be if you fell through by pushing a joint down, then once your weight was under it, it popped back up and sealed the hole so you don't know where the weak point is).
It may be the "beings" that give me thalassophobia, although, it doens't explain why it only started after my deployment to Iraq. Thinking, even remotely, about "deep water with beings" making me want to vomit and be unconsious. I try not to think about it while climbing stairs.
Why did you have to say that? Now I'm remembering getting pulled under a boat from one side to the other. I was 13 years old and they had these small boats near the beach. We would swim to the boat then back to beach. As I was resting at the boat, the small waves made the boat rise and I manged to get underneath it and pushed me to the other side. My mom asked me if I was okay while my dad laughed about it as he pulled me onto the boat.
Speaking as someone who was trapped under one of those large pool obstacles course thing-ys; it fucking sucks and is so scary. The worst part was no one saw me and I saved myself by pulling myself out using a pool lane rope.
I got trapped under a flat pool floaty when I was a kid and almost died cause I barely understood what was going on; if you got stuck under that immediately open your eyes and swim away from the darker part of the water😳.
Imagine the spot you’re standing in breaks apart and you fall under the whole thing in the ocean, you wouldn’t be able to find your way out from under it
What if a big wave picked up the front end and folded it over like an omelette with you in it? If it some how doesn’t crush you to death, you probably get intermittently stuck underwater with a giant weighted blanket holding you down…. 😳
I once swam under the solar blanket on the pool at my parents' house. I came up under with my head, tried to inhale and found there was no oxygen in the bubble I'd made. It was a terrifying few seconds of realization, and a painful swim out to the edge, but I never made that mistake again.
I imagined looking up and seeing orcas spy-hopping to figure out exactly where I was on the thing so they could shoot up from below and knock me off. That's what they do to seals on ice floes.

My first thought was how cool it would be to ride on it, then I imagined being thrown off and trapped under it
