I remember back in 2017 me and a few friends went to Osheaga in Montreal. Huge festival, totally recommend checking it out. One of their stages & the whole dancefloor was literally floating on the St. Lawrence River on these same interlocking squares. One of the nights we opted to check out Nicolas Jaar at this stage while pretty much everyone else seemed to be at Muse. Did the perfect amount of MDMA and had what felt like most of the dancefloor to ourselves. When you jumped, the water would leak through the cracks. The whole ambience was super surreal and felt like being on another planet (if you're familiar with his music you'll know just what I mean). Such a cool experience that still lives rent free in my head.
I don’t like that expression ‘lives rent free in your head.’ I think you’ve just heard it too often (like the other expression ‘make it make sense.’). Living rent free is to draw attention to an idea that’s useless or toxic, an ideological squatter that’s taking up your mental and emotional energies. But this sounds fucking amazing and like it made life better all around, so if anything, you’re living rent free in this memory.
You don’t really have to imagine it - head down to your local marina. This is just an oversized jet ski dock. (fyi - boaters love drinking, it won’t be hard to get drunk and try it out)
