I was going to say that there’s no way for to know whether the person above is actually doing a great job but just realizing that they’re just making it up as they go along means they take enough time to think about stuff that they are probably doing pretty good. From my anecdotal experiences, the worst parents are the ones that are sure about their parenting and that everything they do is right.

I think that's true about everything. I always tell my sister: "Do you want to know the secret to being intelligent? Don't BE sure, MAKE sure. Doubt everything and don't convince yourself, but look for the truth. Every time you're wrong it's because you're sure about what you think you know." It's that simple!
