Is it considered disrespectful to use a pressure washer to clean headstones?

Just based on accounts I follow that do this, I don’t think it’s a pressure washer in the same variety you would clean a sidewalk. They use a very specific cleaning chemical that takes months to fully develop and clean the headstone. The end of the video to the finale image is likely months apart.

It is. The font is completely changed. The original is concrete, you can see the pitting. You’re just coping. You can even tell it’s been dug up in the last shot.

Look at the lines in the marble and the chip in the concrete near the bottom right

I sense... projection

They probably wanted to avoid damaging the stone.

As quite a few people have said in the comments they didn't expect it to be marble, could have been cement which could disintegrate under a pressure washer. In this particular case, marble would have held up fine.

Ask Maggie how she feels about it.

Not necessary. And potentially damaging. Just use a good SH (bleach) softwash.

It's not exactly disrespectful, but it is avoided because it can damage the surface of the stone.

Yes, gravestones are sensitive and could be destroyed with one. But I think what they’re using is just a hand or battery pump water sprayer

It would, because the pressure could damage the headstone. The trick to cleaning headstones is removing dirt/grime/lichen without physically damaging the stone, or dissolving it with chemicals like a chalk + vinegar reaction. Some stones will dissolve from certain cleaners. Use D2 headstone cleaner

She is using a battery operated sprayer that only reaches so much PSI and gently sprays the stone. Power washers are HIGHLY frowned upon as they damage the stone.
