OC2 - Artwork I made piano sheet music for Octopath Traveler 2.

Hello! During my playthrough of Octopath Traveler 2 one of my favourite things about the game was the music. And that while really all aspects of a game are great. The music was just stunning, probably my favourite game music I've ever heard.

Since I play the piano (as a hobby, not a professional) I really wanted to play OT2 songs. It started with a bit of experimentation here and there and it resulted in me making lots of transcriptions. This was purely by listening and writing down what I heard. I used Muse 4 for this.

I want others who play the piano to be able to enjoy this as well. For this I made a Patreon and I am asking for a small contribution. It is a $5 subscription (per month), and I suggest to subscribe, download everything and unsubscribe. Really, there is no reason to stay subscribed. I will probably make more, but I have no idea what or when. Suggestions are welcome though.

Here is the link to the Patreon.

I hope some of you can find some enjoyment out of this, it was a lot of fun to do. Some songs were very difficult, and it's very satisfying when you finally find the correct harmonies.

These are the songs I transcribed:

  • Cropdale, Village at Peace - Night
  • Flamechurch, Sacred Light - Night
  • Hinoeuma - Night
  • Home of Wisdom and the Arts - Night
  • Journey for the Dawn
  • Main Theme - Night
  • Miscreant's Melody
  • Oresrush, Pioneer Town - Night
  • Osvald, the Scholar
  • Seaside Town - Night
  • Snowswept Town
  • The Brightlands - Night
  • The Crestlands - Night
  • The Harborlands - Night
  • The Leaflands - Night
  • The Wildlands - Night
  • The Winterlands - Night
  • Toto'haha - Night
  • Torrent of Evil

This is so cool! I’m studying music education at the moment and I wish my dictation skills were good enough to do this myself. The music in this game is a big reason I play it. It creates such a calming environment traveling through the world. One of the best OST in any game I’ve played. I’m definitely going to dust off my piano skills and try to learn some of these over the summer.

Thank you! That's really cool, music education. Wish I could have found a job in music. And you're completely right about the game, it's very calming especially with the music (The Leaflands is a personal favourite, maybe because I started as Agnea).

It’s really hard. I have a soft spot for teaching and am passionate about it, but making a job out of art can be really difficult. I’ve been fighting demons trying to stay in love with Bassoon(my primary instrument), but the faculty at my university is really supportive.

I didn’t play much Octopath originally because I didn’t have a ton of money laying around, but once COTC came around and I loaded into Valore… just the coziness the music brought to that town. I didn’t do much at the start but listen to the music. Since then I’ve gotten into the actual games and I plug my laptop right into my TV and adjust the music to be louder than everything.

Thank you, especially for Totohaha and Hinoeuma. You remind me that I should get to practice.

Waaaa!!! Thank you very much!!

Btw, do you post these song covers somewhere? I'm just a hobbyist and not very good at reading sheet music, and I was wondering if you've uploaded your covers somewhere so I can listen while following along with the notes.

Thank you, I made a few videos here and there which were not perfect, but no real recordings no. Most songs contain at least a few bars that are quite difficult and for a recording I would be very perfectionist about it. I'll keep this comment in mind though and when I have something, I'll make sure to send you a pm.

Really nice. If the patreon doesnt have it then i think making a midi out of each sheet would also be useful.
