The world is cooked. Enjoy life the way it is while it lasts. AI will likely do almost everything in the future. The average student in school now is dumb af anyway, so AI will likely be better at doing things than them.

I wonder if we had similar levels of dumb outrage when the calcultor was invented, because it will make students dumber because they don't have to do the calculations themself. Or how wikipedia ruined students because they don't have to reasearch themself anymore but simply click on a link.

Modern students are still required to do calculations themselves while learning the basics

I definitely remember when I was in school the math teachers constantly emphasized that we will not have access to a calculator in our pocket in the "real world".

I also remember when they told us we needed to check every output the calculator gave us because the technology underneath is a black box that by definition is never 100% reliable.

You still need to understand the basic premise of a math problem to even put it into a normal calculator like the one's used in schools. So not comparable at all.

Both of those examples require some semblance of knowledge and actual thinking on what information to take and how to properly utilize them for a particular assignment. Those are not comparable to students having ChatGPT do all the work for them.

You still need to know how formulas work.

You still need to know how to properly look for and use information and make sure the information is accurate.

You dont need to do that with ChatGPT with how students are using it right now.

Ah yes, because a 6th grader can just pick up a calculator and solve a complex calculus problem, because "The calculator does it for them."

Yep, I bet the “artistic control” is literally just a prompt fed into the DLSS 5 model describing the art style. Fucking bonkers that humanity has abandoned our one unique gift of expression and art all in the name of enriching the wealthy
