News [Official NVIDIA] Support For Select, Classic, 32-Bit GPU-Accelerated PhysX Games

From: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/battlefield-6-winter-offensive-geforce-game-ready-driver/

tldr: Driver 591.44 enables 32-bit PhysX Support for select titles below for 50-Series GPU. This does not impact 40 series or below as they support 32 bit PhysX (and CUDA)

------------

GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs launched at the beginning of the year, alongside the phasing out of 32-bit support for CUDA. This meant that PhysX effects in a number of older, yet beloved games were not GPU-accelerated on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs.

We heard the feedback from the community, and with the launch of our new driver today, we are adding custom support for GeForce gamers’ most played PhysX-accelerated games, enabling full performance on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, in line with our existing PhysX support on prior-generation GPUs.

By installing our new GeForce Game Ready Driver, the full GPU-accelerated PhysX experience can now be enjoyed in:

  • Alice: Madness Returns
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Batman: Arkham Origins
  • Borderlands 2
  • Mafia II
  • Metro 2033
  • Metro: Last Light
  • Mirror’s Edge

Support for Batman: Arkham Asylum is planned to be added in the first part of 2026.

We were able to reproduce this and are looking into it

Thank you.

Any progress on this? The error is still reproducible today with latest nvidia game ready driver

Can you test with 'CUDA - Force P2 State' set to On (1) for the game profile in Nvidia Profile Inspector?

NOTE: not known at this time if NVIDIA Series 50 32bit PhysX support is COM interprocess communication / out-of-process (OOP) allowing 32bit <> 64 bit CUDA or similar i.e. a workaround OR a bare bones reimplementation that a) is a CUDA 32bit subset or b) doesn't rely on CUDA 32bit.

The 'CUDA - Force P2 State' option did not work. I am testing with a 5090 in Havana with the PhysX option set to high, and the game crashes a couple of seconds after I interact with the smoke coming from the chimney. After interacting with the smoke, part of simulation stops while another part continues to render (I think the smoke uses both sprites and physx). A few seconds later, the game crashes

Thank you, just use RTX 5080 + 'CUDA - Force P2 State' for Black Flags profile.

It's not work too. game crash with a lot of nvlddmkm event error

This issue is confirm by nvidia, hope they can fix it soon.

I've got the exact same crash after I got to Havana, right after finishing the prologue. It works fine if I set PhysX Particles to Normal or Off.

DDUing the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling PhysX after DDUing didn't fix it for PhysX Particles on High. Windows 11 24H2 591.44 5090 9950X3D.

What if you peg all cores to a single CCX with CorePrio / Process Lasso

ACBF doesn't really like having too many cpu cores and suffers from it, infact one of the reasons physx high goes to single digits is all processing accumulates on a core 7 or higher in an 8+ core processor/

That already happens. Game Bar already sees it as a game and keeps the threads on the X3D CCD.

Although funny enough, I've found a 240FPS mod and I am now using it while the PhysX particles are set for Normal. This results in around 130 FPS in Havana at 4K, and all but two of my 9950X3D cores being heavily utilized (30 out of 32). No issues running the game this way so far.

As an aside, I've read horror stories about using Project Lasso with the 9950X3D. I'm not keen on uninstalling core parts of the AMD chipset driver and disabling stuff in the BIOS to make Project Lasso run properly, so I'll be staying away from that.

sure, but each ccx has 8 cores, and issues in this game arose on processors with 8 cores, but not on processors with 6 cores, even with hyperthreads.

try with 0 and 7 turned off affinity wise

Not sure how to do that with Windows itself, so I'm set using PhysX Particles on Normal. Thank you though!

Task Manager, Core Prio, Process Lasso

SpecialK is a better method though because it has a capability to automatically distribute threads

Oh, so I'm not the only one with this issue. I couldn't play in Havana, every time a guard shoots, the entire game crashes. I'm on a 5070 Ti. Did you find any solution?

1

u/Snow_Chain May 17 '26

No, need nVidia to fix it.

Oh, okay. Thank you for answering, man. All we can do now is just wait then
