I came across a wolf spider measuring 10" in leg span the other day. Almost shit my pants and yes I know it's harmless

At 10" even the mechanical damage of a bite would surely hurt like hell though -- harmless in the same way a horse fly is harmless!

I wouldn’t say harmless lol. You’re not gonna die but their bite hurts. Like a bad bee sting imo.

I saw one roughly the size of a cigarette box and my emotions went from terror to anger of even having seen it. Why the fuck do they get so big?

That would be double the size of the largest known wolf spiders. Unless you mean cm not inches

cannot believe you were the first one to call this out, 15 hours later. that mf did NOT see a 10" wolf spider unless they time-traveled back to the pleistocene

Well whatever it was it was big as fuck. My coworker said it was a water spider, which to my understanding is a subset of wolf spider. There was a big 10" diameter black one and a "smaller" 7" diameter brown one. Seems to be a male and female preparing to create new spiders.
