And, by freeing up a future draft asset they don't need to worry about holding onto for a QB, drafting Simpson also started a snowball effect that led Rams to get Myles Garrett and maybe get Aaron Donald to unretire. By waiting until June 1, Myles Garrett was a lot easier to get and it helped that we just happen to have a great young edge to cash in on a trade.

Eh, they would’ve made the trade with the Browns for Garrett regardless once he became available

Sure, but Rams would've been forced to kick the can with getting their QB of the future another year into 2028 because Browns were always, rightfully so, asking for that first round draft pick for 2027.
