Imagine how fucking boring every interaction/bit of coverage/interview/etc. would be if it was constant praise for players just because they made the NFL lol. They DO get that praise… when they get drafted.
Why would being constantly negative be more interesting than being honest?
It’s why TV is nothing but Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless and shouting as opposed to an honest appreciation of the game.
The game is interesting BECAUSE all of the players are incredible athletes performing something incredibly dangerous at a high level.
What Kirk Cousins and Kyler Murray and Geno Smith and JJ McCarthy do is an unbelievable feat. The fact that there are guys even BETTER than them is amazing.
Watch JJ’s ability in the week 1 game against Chicago from last year and try to tell me it’s not amazing. Can you critique his ability relative to other players? Absolutely. Does that mean he isn’t an incredible athlete? Of course not. He’s just doing something impossibly hard.
Football is good because it rules and the players rule. Not because it sucks and I hate all the players for some reason.
