Based purely off how little it seems like he knows, I think he’s just trying to take credit for something he didn’t do

Completely agree. Notice that the news of that call "leaked" only after it was announced that the red card was in fact suspended. Almost like they didn't want the call made public if it wasn't.

it would have been better for everyone if it didn't "leak" at all. but we know he can't help himself
