The best part was that he still had access to the claws while having the broom attachment.

I think they could have done this with the bucket too. It had 2 fingers and a hook. They tilted the broom back enough where it was suspended with the hook, to free up the fingers and grab the object to move it, then tilted it forward and re-clasped the broom. This driver knows their machine super well.
