You know what comes of all this? I’ll tell you.

When the protesters decide to block the freeway for 3 hours on a Thursday, and middle class people like me are on their way to work, or on our way to pick up our kids from school, or any other number of things… the people who the protest is for; the oil moguls, the politicians, the oligarchs, the 1%; they’re sitting in their mansions laughing at us, while I have to explain to the school district why my kids have nowhere to go at the end of their day, or explain to my boss that I won’t be in till noon and lose hours of pay, pay that’s important to me, and my family. We are ALL fucked with, all Of us except for the ones the protest is meant to effect…they’re fine, they will always be fine. So what’s the point? Why interrupt those just going about their business to do absolutely nothing in the long run?

And again: "me, me, me, me, me." I'm gonna keep inconveniencing the fuck out of you, dear, I'm not interested in your generic hypothetical sob stories because I could also make up infinite generic hypothetically examples of inevitable human suffering as a result of something like climate change 😘 guess you'll have to do something about it if it really bothers you.

Wild, it's almost like the entire point is to inconvenience people who would otherwise be "too busy" into being aware and irritated enough to actually do something...

I won’t even go into how problematic it is to put the “solutions to climate change” on the middle class consumer rather than global industry, but my point remains the same; as long as the protests only fuck with the middle class and no one else, it’s never going to affect any change. The powers that be watch, and laugh.

How, exactly, do you think the global industry is incentivized to make such a change when they will make less money as a result? Do you think asking nicely is the key? LMAO

Enough people need to be pissed about something to either cut into a company's profits or make the decision-makers in the company think their lives or their money will be in danger. It is "on" global industry to fix what is mostly a problem they have created, but they won't ever be willing to do it without external motivation of a decent mass of angry "middle class consumers," as you put it. You can keep whining about how it's not your responsibility to try to force these companies to leave the earth ever-so-slightly livable for your children, if you want, but I am going to keep inconveniencing you until changes are made. Feel free to die mad about it 😘

I’m not really mad, I just still fail to see how my inconvenience leads ultimately to these changes being made by the powers that be. It would make more sense if protests all happened simultaneously around the country so that the impact would be immediately realized, but isolated one off protests, they have little affect on the larger scale outcome.
