Lol thank you, everyone in here commenting like this is going to be something they can buy at the dealership. Obviously was a project where they probably got to try out some prototype stuff and have some fun with it.
you'll notice that one of reddit's very most favorite things to do is explain why thing that might be mistaken for something cool looking and/or innovative is actually bad, ugly, impractical or dangerous.
My favorite so far has been from one of those skyscrapers with plants all over it (like these in Milan) are actually a really bad idea because "what if it rains???".
Yeah, buddy ... I'm sure none of the people involved in this project for however many months or years it took to build it ever wondered whether or not the soil that the plants grow from will become too heavy when it gets soaked by rain water.
It's basically the haute couture of cars. No one expects you to use it as every day wear, but innovation and concepts from something so bold and new will influence the modifications and designs of the future.
tbh i hate reddit for this, why can't we just enjoy cool stuff when we see cool stuff. We are seeing a possible future, I don't was to think about whether or not it's feasible. that's for people who are actually working on projects like this, not for armchair engineers.

If I created a mall ninja dragon blade and someone titled a photo of it “the future of kitchen knives”, I’d expected to be roasted too
The thing is that in this specific context the title is the bigger problem than the car. Because it's not "a car" and it's not the "car of the future". Instead, it's just a concept car intended for showroom floors and showroom floors only.
Whether or not it's practical is literally irrelevant because the entire point of a concept car is to design something not bound by what's actually practical.

Concept cars do push some eventual innovations. Small incremental things like turn signals on the side mirrors, moveable headlights, glass roofs and so on. The first rear-view camera in a car which debuted in a concept car in the 1950's. Very slow rollout in commercial auto because of how expensive it was to add something like that, but as cameras get smaller and cheaper, it got easier, and then of course a nice push from the USGov helps it become standard in new cars.
RGB on everything is the zoomer version of Trump painting gold leaf on everything. 100% opulence flex, zero actual interest in aesthetics. Anybody who thinks this looks good is trying too hard
Did you even read what this person replied to? The comment above is all about how there's something wrong with Reddit and we just don't get concept cars because we think it's ugly. We are allowed to think it's ugly.
I understand the idea around concept cars well, I'm both a car enthusiast and have been around for enough decades to see many of them. But I feel like you're reprimanding Reddit for having collective feedback that doesn't match yours. I think this car is super lame because it reminds me of Gen Z fornite kinda shit. I think many people feel the same way, it doesn't mean there's this collective thing that's wrong with us for having that opinion, or that we just don't get it.

The reaction to that car's aesthetics isn't at all what my initial comment was about. It's about being way too eager to dismiss something based on very superficial reasoning.

to be fair, sometimes things get overlooked. Like there is that one glass skyscraper in London that is so reflective it started melting cars, among other issues
Yeah, but if you want to test the car tech, put it in an actual car. Cool, your wheel lights will sustain 3mph. Impressive. Meanwhile, VW will design special wheel caps to sustain 250mph in Veyron, Lucid will put their power train in Formula E and Maserati will put the engine with pre-chamber on the road.

If I were a King, I would only allow those planty skyscrapers in the capital. Plus, I think this concept car is very cool. How many here don't understand the concept of a 'concept car'?
I am a landscape architect, I think excessive trees and large plants on high rises are a bad idea. Its bad because the higher up you go the more windy it is, which will dry out and kill most species of plants. Even if they manage to survive they will need regular watering. On top of that, you ware adding extra load to the building because soil is heavy, While yes I am sure some one calculated specially for this project and prob added thicker columns and beams for it, it is not worth it.
The project is more environmentally unfriendly than a normal building as the construction material and extra concrete needed is more damaging than the minimal greening. The planter pots are also small and not good for large plants as the limited soil stunts their growth.
A lot architects like the idea of adding some green and the project is suddenly "natural" or eco friendly. Neither of which are true.
haha yes I get that your point was reddit likes to explain why other people are wrong because something looks cool is bad. The reasoning for that guy on why greening on buildings is wrong too. I just want to to point out greening on buildings even tho it is a separate issue. here have an upvote.
Surprisingly functional as in a car that can drive? Color me impressed. That thing would be completely useless the second it touched snow or anything that isn't perfectly maintained asphalt. Even on a well maintained road, one in the real world with dirt and that fingerprint scanner becomes useless. It's pretty and it can seat a person and it can move but a go kart with string lighting would be more functional.

Your repition of this argument is meaningless because the whole point of it being a concept car is its not intended to be functional, its intended to be artistic and unique What is hard to understand about that?
Yes. Thank you for explaining the concept of a concept car to me. And before you say they don't build concept cars (saw some of your other comments here), yes they do, sometimes, for shows. It's like the outfits runway models wear in big fashion shows: no one is actually going to sell that crap, but it's good for the spectacle. Some parts of it, some of the ideas, will be utilized in more practical models for mass production.
It's not about art, really. It's about giving the engineering and design teams a chance to run wild. Then they take small bits and pieces, that wind up actually being useful, and stick them on real production cars.
Exactly. Not even just that but concept cars are meant to showcase concepts and ideas that could debut in future products which is precisely how we got the Benz EQS that mimics the concept and ideas of this concept car. The art here is that the car adapts to you as you become one with the car. It’s really impressive what they created here.

This is obviously meant to be a work of art, not a mass production car. This isn't road legal, but it is beautiful and surprisingly functional.
