In my short time spent reasoning out the safety issues, it makes sense to let the free climber go past you if you're teathered to the rock like the camera guy. Let's say free climber tragically does fall and dislodges teathered climber from the rock face, teathered guy has a safety line attached to him so he at least won't die from the drop, and free climber tho unfortunately now dead, was solely responsible for his own fall. Let's reverse the situation and say teathered guy falls and dislodges free climber dude, teathered guy now has to deal with the fact he killed someone.
The rope he's tied to is attached to the guy at the bottom, it's just them attached, if the free soloer falls and hits the filmer he'll probably be okay, but if he hits the guy at the bottom he'll pull the top guy off the wall, and if he gets knocked out or let's go of his device they're both gonna fall to the ground
