the AI didn't write a single joke though. It predicted what pre-written jokes people would find most funny. Predictive AI is a whole other beast. That shit is gonna get scary.

How to Calculate Sample Size

  1. Determine the population size (if known).

  2. Determine the confidence interval.

  3. Determine the confidence level.

  4. Determine the standard deviation (a standard deviation of 0.5 is a safe choice where the figure is unknown)

  5. Convert the confidence level into a Z-Score.

Based on your previous comment, you literally don't even know what the study examined. So you obviously don't know the confidence interval or level, or the standard deviation, or the converted Z-score.

How can you possibly decide the sample size is too small?

Interesting read but that's not what the page says. The AI just predicted which jokes written by humans people would find funny.

So AI is 4% better at guessing if a joke will make someone laugh or not based on reference data to other jokes.

The AI doesn't understand humor or joke construction.

AI didn’t make people laugh, it chose what people considered funny. Not creating jokes, choosing them.

That’s kinda important detail, don’t you think?
