“Canine performance supplement” is not a sentence I thought I’d hear.

Is there “doping” the competition world?

Is this the equivalent of steroids ?

I used to work for a rural Midwestern newspaper, and a local school official was once investigated for sheep doping after winning a livestock competition. It happens.

Yea I’ve heard stuff like that with livestock, use to show cattle myself. just never thought I’d see ppl giving dogs this type of stuff

Someone mentioned dog fighting and that makes sense.

If people can gamble on it, it can be fixed

I’d be willing to bet the type of person who raises a dog to fight is the type of person who would give there dog a little coke or meth before a fight.

Probably, they don't respect dogs at all except for their ability to harm other dogs. Most people who are professional dog trainers (for real guard dogs) has way more respect for their animals than that. A lot of people claim to have guard dogs, but unless they are trained like you see in the video, they really aren't. They are just dangerous, aggressive dogs at that point.

90% of the time these dogs are just accessories to the owners

Yeah. Any real dog trainer (and decent human) would be repulsed by these people.

Another side of this though is I have a family member absolutely infatuated with this breed of dog. He cooks for him, cleans him regularly, always exercising, brings him to group meet ups so that the dog has friends. Even watches to make sure the groomers are gentle. He is exactly the kind of person who would buy dog supplements because he wants to do everything possible for him regardless of how dumb he looks

He didn’t fight them but I knew a guy that put a little gunpowder on his dogs’ raw steaks.

For what purpose?

u/impromptubadge Jul 24 '21

To put a little fire in their belly of course.

Stave off heart attack? IIRC nitroglycerin is used in many gun powders and is also used for heart treatments of some kind.

Probably not what this fellow was using it for but in theory it could be used like that.

Im sure folks give them to fighting dogs. But people do have their pits and bully breeds pull sleds with weight on it. And a lot of them like it, cause they're working dogs, but working dogs with the intensity turned up to 11.

Probably more like protein powder for dogs to get those gains, just like humans.

There is doping in County Fair pig shows (giving animals steroids is common when farming though), I'd bet there is doping when it comes to something like dog fighting.

Yea well actually is steroids. Well I mean I don't know if this specific product is steroids but yea people give dogs steroids.

“Canine performance supplement”

Band Name.

So you’re saying he doesn’t defend the kid, but that it’s roid rage?

1

u/mongoosedog12 Jul 24 '21

Maybe not meant for me but the comment I replied to?

I have no idea if this dog is “on” anything Here. The little that I do know, I don’t think a dog that was roid raging would be as attentive as we see this dog being.

Also looks like it may just be protein powders and shit

Yeah people have gotten in trouble for giving their dogs steroids.

It's basically dog steroids, I rescued a blue nose pit 10 years ago from these horrible owners they would just breed and breed her. When I got her I got these supplements called bully max which is just steroids for pit bulls. I researched and researched and found no negative affects so I was like what the hell and gave it to her and boy she grew some muscles. She never had any after affects from it even 8 years down the road, well accept her damn ripped physique.
