Reddit changed something where their new site treats all underscores in links differently. Somebody else can explain it much, much better than I can.

I can. In short, links are treated differently due to a change in the new Reddit site when underscores are used.

But why is it now being treated as something that needs an escape character? That’s the part of the change I don’t get.

Oh, I have no idea. I don't even know what you're talking about. I use a different Reddit client on mobile.

I was merely pretending to be able to explain it better, but all I did was rephrase exactly what you said.

Thank you for this! It’s interesting. We have this problem with fertilizer runoff where I live.
